Divergent effects of Nitric oxide on airway epithelial cell activation Biol. Res.
Neri,Tommaso; Conti,Ilaria; Cerri,Chiara; Tavanti,Laura; Paggiaro,Pierluigi; Celi,Alessandro.
Nitric oxide (NO*) is a gaseous mediator synthesized by Nitric oxide sinthases. NO* is involved in the modulation of inflammation, but its role in airway inflammation remains controversial. We investigated the role of NO* in the synthesis of the chemok Nes Interleukin-8 and Monocyte Chemotactic Protein-1, and of Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1 by human airway epithelial cells. normal human bronchial epithelial cells and the bronchial epithelial cell line BEAS-2B were used. Neterleukin-8 (IL-8) and Monocyte Chemotactic Protein-1 (MCP-1) secretion and Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1 (ICAM-1) expression were measured by ELISA. mRNA was assessed by semiquantitative RTI-PCR. Neterleukin-8 secretion was significantly reduced after 24h incubation with the NO*...

Imbalance of γδT17/γδTreg cells in the pathogenesis of allergic asthma induced by ovalbumin BJMBR
Yang,Xia; Zhang,Jing-Hong; Deng,Wang-Sheng; Li,Chao-Qian.
We aimed to explore the imbalance between the T helper 17 γδT cells (γδT17) and the regulatory γδT cells (γδTreg) in asthmatic mice. Male Balb/c mice were randomly divided into the normal control group and the asthmatic model group. The asthmatic model group mice were intraperitoneally injected with the mixture of ovalbumin (OVA)/Al(OH)3 and then activated by exposure of the animals to OVA atomization. Airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR) was determined by a non-invasive lung function machine. Hematoxylin and eosin and Alcian blue-periodic acid Schiff staining were done for histopathological analysis. Interleukin (IL)-17 and IL-35 levels in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid were detected by ELISA. The percentage of IL-17+ γδT cells and Foxp3+ γδT cells in spleen...

Mineral supplement with pre- and probiotic improves respiratory immune status in yearling racing Thoroughbred horses: preliminary results Ciência Rural
Michelotto Júnior,Pedro Vicente; Barussi,Fernanda Cristina Mendes; Bastos,Fernanda Zettel; Michelotto,Ana Lúcia Lacerda; Weber,Saulo Henrique.
ABSTRACT: There are evidences of intestinal flora influence on the airway immune response. However, this information is scarce with regard to horses. The present preliminary study aimed to investigate the effects of a commercial mineral supplement containing probiotics and prebiotics on the respiratory immune response of horses supplemented with them during the first months of stabling and race training. Twelve TB yearlings were examined at the breeding farm at the beginning of the study (June 2016, henceforth M0) and then reexamined one (July 2016, henceforth M1) and five (November 2016, henceforth M2) months after being stabled at a racetrack in Curitiba, Brazil. Clinical and hematological examinations, airway endoscopy, and tracheal wash (TW) cytology...
