Anatomic Study of the Distance Between the Lower Margin of the Mandible and the Marginal Mandibular Branch of the Facial Nerve: A Systematic Review International Journal of Morphology
Aravena,Pedro Christian; Santibáñez,Rodrigo; Rubilar,Pablo; Espinoza,Christian; Pérez-Rojas,Francisco.
The marginal mandibular branch of the facial nerve (MMB) has a significant variation in relation to the lower border of the mandible (LBM). That is why it is important to know its topographical description to prevent damage in submandibular surgical procedures. The objective of this study was to determine the distance between the MMB and LBM based on descriptive studies carried out on human corpses and surgical patients. A systematic review of literature in MEDLINE, "Science Citation Index Expanded" of Web of Science (ISI) databases and manual search was performed. The articles with number of samples greater than or equal to 10 facial samples and recording of measurements between the MMB and the LBM or Gonion were selected. From the selected articles, the...

Aspects of the Macro and Microscopic Anatomy of the Sciatic Nerve in Wistar Rats International Journal of Morphology
Suaid,Carla Adelino; Santos,Ana Paula; Yamane,Fernanda de Oliveira; Fazan,Valéria Paula Sassoli; Barreira,Amilton Antunes.
The present study seeks to systematize morphological and morphometrical parameters and brings new data on the main branch of the lumbosacral plexus i.e., sciatic nerve in Wistar rats aged four and seven weeks. Sixteen female were divided into two groups, namely animals aged four weeks, and animals aged seven weeks. The specimens were studied at proximal and distal segments of the right hind limb sciatic nerves. Semi-thin transverse sections (0.25 µm thickness) were stained with 1 % toluidine blue, and the morphometric analysis was processed through the KS 400 software. Except for the number of fascicles and fascicular diameter, no differences were found between the proximal and distal segments. We observed differences when morphometric values were...

ANATOMY AND HISTOLOGY OF THE FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM OF Boophilus microplus (ACARI: IXODIDAE) Rev Salud Anim.
de la Vega,R; Díaz,G; Galán,M; Fernández,C.
The knowledge of the anatomy and histology of the female genital system in ticks is very important as a basic tool in all species in relation to morphological sciences and evolution, physiological events like ovulation, sexual behavior, maturation and mating, and also to research the interrelation tick-hemoparasite. The anatomy and histology of the female genital system in Boophilus microplus are scarcely studied. In the present paper, the female genital system of this tick has been considered as a whole and morphological and functional interrelations between different structures and also some other related items has been presented. Unfed and partially engorged females were employed in the study. The quality and resolution of images are remarkable because...
