Rhizobacteria were isolated from rhizosphere soil of rice plants grown in Kanchanaburi Provience. All bacterial isolates were evaluated for the efficacy to inhibit mycerial growth of Rhizoctonia solani, a causal agent of sheath blight on rice by dual culture test on potato dextrose agar (PDA). Six gram positive and three gram negative bacterial isolates effectively inhibited mycerial growth of R. solani by 30.62-75.00 % as compared to the control. Selected bacteria were further tested for the efficacy to promote growth of rice (Chai Nat 1) seedling by seed soaking in bacterial cell suspension (108 CFU/ml) for 24 hr. Soaked seed were incubated for 24 hr before sowing. The results indicated that isolate RRK1 was the most promising isolates that provided the...

Total of 402 bacterial isolates for antagonistic screening against Fusarium fujikuroi, the causal agent of rice bakanae disease were isolated from rhizosphere soil of rice . Out of them, 23 isolates showed antagonistic activity against Fusarium fujikuroi by dual culture method test. In greenhouse experiment for the control rice bakanae, the most effective antagonistic bacteria were BAK 20, BAK 48 and BAK 109 which had the disease incidence 23.57 25.46 and 37.05 %, respectively whereas the control was 72.31%. Efficiency of powder formulation of antagonistic bacteria to control rice bakanae disease was studied in field experiment at Phatthalung Rice Research Center, in wet and dry seasons 2013. The experiments were designed as RCB (Randomized Complete...

Rice disease surveys had been carried out in the field of highland terrace paddy cultivation at ban na-gean, tambon na-gean, amphoe om-goy, Chiang Mai province which is in the area of highland agricultural development station project. Disease surveys have shown rice seed discoloration was the most severity and important problem in this area. The objective of this study was to test the effectiveness of antagonistic bacteria and some plant extract from tea seed to control rice seed discoloration in highland area. The experiment was designed as RCB with 6 treatments and 4 replications, using Beu Pa Doo rice variety and transplanting method in wet season 2008 and 2009. The treatments were foliar spray with bacterial suspension of antagonistic bacteria Bacillus...

Biological control of fire blight in pear orchards with a formulation of Pantoea agglomerans strain Eh 24 BJM
Özaktan,Hatice; Bora,Tayyar.
Biological control by using epiphytic bacteria against Erwinia amylovora has been considered as an alternative method for controlling the disease. Talc-based formulation of Pantoea agglomerans strain Eh-24 was applied at 30% and 100% bloom on two pear orchards which were selected from different locations in the Aegean Region in Turkey. Pear orchard trials were replicated for two years (1999 and 2000) in each place. Talc-based formulation of P. agglomerans strain Eh-24 was sprayed on pear trees which were naturally infected with E. amylovora. In the orchard trials conducted in 1999 and 2000, talc-based formulation of P. agglomerans strain Eh-24 reduced the percentage of blighted blossoms on pear orchards by 63% to 76%, approximately. Copper...
