PESTICIDES DEPOSITION IN VINEYARDS ON DIFFERENT CONDITIONS OF LEAF WETNESS REA
Saab,Otavio J. G. Abi; Griesang,Fabiano; Alves,Karina A.; Higashibara,Leandro R.; Genta,Werner.
ABSTRACT The high susceptibility to diseases of fine table grapes cultivars demand intensive use of pesticides, and the presence of water on the leaf surface can worsen the deposition of these products. The objective of this study was to evaluate the spray deposition in vine leaves in different conditions of leaf wetness, and test the effectiveness of an artificial ventilation method to remove water on the leaf surface. We evaluated the spray deposition in vine applied over: wet canopy (presence of high leaf wetness); canopy dried artificially (dried with air jet from air-assisted sprayer, wind speed of 25 km h−1) and canopy dried naturally (naturally dried leaves and free of water on its surface). Saline marker was used in the spray and the deposition on...

CONSTRUCTION AND PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF A CANOPY OPENER DEVICE REA
PRADO,EVANDRO P.; Pogetto,MÁRio H. F. Do A. Dal; Cerqueira,Denise T.R. De; Raetano,Carlos G.; Costa,Saulo Í. De A..
ABSTRACT: Accurate application of pesticides is difficult for crops with dense leaves, such as soybean crops. To improve spray deposits on the lower leaves of soybean plants, the aim of this study is to build a canopy opener (CO) from a previously developed prototype and to assess its practical application and efficiency on soybean crops. Laboratory experiments were conducted to determine the amount of spray deposits on the top and the lower leaves using a Brilliant Blue dye. The influence of the CO device on the number of flowers knocked down during spraying was also investigated. The data showed that the use of the CO attached to the spray boom enabled more spray deposit on the lower leaves and less spray depositson the upper leaves compared with...

SPRAYING QUALITY OF CROP PROTECTION PRODUCTS USING TWO DROPLET SPECTRA IN THREE PERIODS OF THE DAY REA
Graziano,Carlos E. P. L.; Alves,Karina A.; Gandolfo,Marco A.; Dario,Gustavo; Oliveira,Rone B..
ABSTRACT: Spraying of crop protection products can be affected by weather conditions and spray nozzles, altering deposition patterns and coverage of the target surface. The objective of this research was to analyze the quality of sprayings performed in three periods of the day (9:00 am, 2:00 pm, and 6:00 pm), using two different droplet sizes (fine and coarse) in soybeans. Coverage and deposition were evaluated in the upper, middle, and lower portion of soybean canopy. Spraying the products at 2:00 pm increased leaf coverage in the medium portion but also increased losses to the soil. Spray nozzles with fine droplet sizes provided greater coverage and deposition in the medium and upper portion of the crop for the sprayings performed in the morning. If...

INSECTICIDE SPRAYING IN SOYBEAN PLANTS: DIFFERENT NOZZLES MODELS AND AGROMETEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS REA
Costa,Lilian L.; Aquino,Nathan C. R. De Moura; Carneiro,Ângela L. C. G.; Almeida,Dieimisson P.; Ferreira,Marcelo Da C..
ABSTRACT The aim of the experiment was to evaluate the quality of the spraying by the spray volume deposit provided by different nozzles models in two agrometeorological conditions of application. Four parameters related to spray quality were evaluated: spray volume deposit, droplet size, surface tension and contact angle. The treatments consisted of three nozzle models (AXI Twin 12002, TTJ 110015 and JAI 120015) and two application times (between 02:00 p.m. and 04:00 p.m. and between 08:00 a.m. and 09:30 a.m.). The spray volume deposit in the upper portion of the soybean plants was similar, but the JAI 120015 nozzle model produces more uniform droplet spectra and is safer than the AXI Twin 12002 and TTJ 110015 due to the highest drift risk. It is...

Carvalho,Fernando K.; Antuniassi,Ulisses R.; Chechetto,Rodolfo G.; Mota,Alisson A. B.; Kruger,Greg R..
ABSTRACT The effect of blade angle on droplet size spectrum of five rotary cage atomizers and one rotary disc atomizer used in Brazil was evaluated in a high speed wind tunnel, with an air speed of 180 km h−1. This study included the characterization of the droplet size spectrum, via laser diffraction instrument, generated by three blades angles, of 45, 60 and 75 degrees. The spray solution was composed of Picoxystrobin+ Cyproconazole fungicide (SC), at 20 mL c.p. L−1, and at a flow rate of 6 L min−1. As the angle decreased from 75 to 45 degrees, the rotational speed of the atomizers increased and the volume median diameter (VMD) decreased. However, increasing the rotational speed also increased the percentage of droplets smaller than 100 µm (% < 100...
