RESUMO Nós compilamos uma lista de espécies de aranhas registradas no Mato Grosso do Sul (Brasil) a partir da literatura taxonômica e de inventários não publicados. A lista inclui 228 espécies em 134 gêneros e 32 famílias. Apenas cerca de 35% da área do estado apresenta registros de ocorrência de espécies de aranhas, e não mais que 5% apresenta mais de um registro de ocorrência por quadrícula de 0,5° (≈2.916 km2). Existem grandes lacunas de amostragem no estado, particularmente na porção norte do Pantanal. Little is known about how the diversity and richness of arthropods change during this impact. Assembléias de aranhas da vegetação herbácea foram amostradas com rede-de-varredura em dois pomares de laranja doce (Citrus sinensis) no sul do Brasil. Cada pomar amostrado é caracterizado por receber um diferente tipo de manejo: "tradicional" ou "ecológico". Adicionalmente, foi amostrada a assembléia de aranhas das laranjeiras do pomar com manejo "ecológico" através do uso de guarda-chuva japonês. Five new species of Nesticus Thorell, 1869 are described: N. potreiro, N. taim from southern Brazil; N. brignolii from southern Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay; N. calilegua from southern Brazil and Argentina and N. ramirezi, from Argentina. The male palpus and female epyginum of N. brasiliensis Brignoli, 1979 are illustrated. Described species were collected in epigean habitats, in shrubs, leaf-litter, under stones, bricks, tiles or debris.

Sluipwespen van de groep van de Polysphinctini hebben een bijzondere levenswijze. Het vrouwtje van wesp legt een eitje op het achterlijf van een spin. Wanneer het eitje is uitgekomen brengt de larve haar hele leven op het achterlijf van de spin door. Ze maakt kleine wondjes in de huid en voedt zich met lichaamsvloeistof van de spin. Na verloop van tijd ontwikkelt de larve bulten op de rug, een teken dat ze bijna volgroeid is. Ze zuigt dan de spin leeg, de ‘grote slurp’ genaamd, en verpopt zich in het web. In dit artikel wordt de levenswijze van één van deze soorten, Acrodactyla quadrisculpta, voor het eerst beschreven en geïllustreerd.

Eoferreola rhombica, a pompilid new to the Dutch fauna, and its remarkable host, Eresus sandaliatus (Hymenoptera: Pompilidae; Araneae: Eresidae) In 1998 a female specimen of Eoferreola rhombica (Christ, 1791) was collected in a road-verge on the Veluwe. The nearest populations of this species are found in northern France and eastern Germany. It is possible that this insect was transported by traffic from one of these populations. However at the collection site a large population of the rare host spider Eresus sandaliatus (Martini & Goeze, 1778) is known to be present for many years. Therefore the presence of a population of E. rhombica cannot be excluded. Future observations have to reveal the status of this spider wasp in the Netherlands.

Alle spinnen hebben gif in hun kaken om hun prooien te doden. Verreweg de meeste soorten kunnen de menselijke huid niet doorboren met hun kaken en zijn dus volkomen ongevaarlijk. Kogelspinnen uit het genus Latrodectus, oftewel weduwen, vormen een uitzondering. Deze exotische spinnen worden af en toe geïmporteerd in Nederland. In 2013 is het aantal vondsten van geïmporteerde Latrodectus-spinnen op een rij gezet in een risicobeoordeling, met als resultaat een lijst van tien records met bewijsmateriaal. O estudo objetivou o levantamento da fauna de aranhas e ácaros com hábito predador, em copas de tangerineiras (Citrus deliciosa var. Montenegrina) em pomar orgânico, situado em Montenegro, RS. Durante um ano, quinzenalmente 24 plantas eram sorteadas e avaliadas em duas regiões da copa, utilizando-se um pano-de-batida (1 m²). Capturou-se o total de 3.129 indivíduos, sendo 2.559 aranhas e 570 ácaros. Em Araneae foram reconhecidas 53 espécies adultas distribuídas em oito famílias, dentre estas, as mais abundantes foram Sphecozone sp. First remarks on the nesting biology of Hypodynerus andeus (Packard) (Hymenoptera, Vespidae, Eumeninae) in the Azapa valley, northern Chile. Some aspects about the nesting biology of the potter wasp Hypodynerus andeus (Packard, 1869) are reported for the first time. Observations were carried out at the Azapa valley, coastal desert of northern Chile. A total of sixty nests were collected and examined, each composed by 1-14 cells, most of them found attached to concrete lamp posts. The only preys recorded in the cells were Geometridae (Lepidoptera) caterpillars and the presence of the parasitoid Anthrax sp. (Diptera, Bombyliidae) was also recorded. A number of arthropods belonging to different groups, mainly spiders, were found occupying empty nests.
