| Blast disease is a major rice disease causing significant rice yield loss worldwide. These are several methods to control this disease, but the most effective and most suitable method is to use blast resistant varieties. Prachin Buri Rice Research Center has released a rice variety ‘Bahng Taen’, which is resistant to blast in the Eastern region. Bahng Taen is a non-glutinous, photoperiod insensitive, early maturity variety with high yielding ability. However, the ability to resist to blast of this variety is declining drastically.
