Вселенцы в донной макрофауне Чёрного моря: распространение и влияние на сообщества бентали IBSS Repository
Сергеева, Н. Г.; Заика, В. Е.; Колесникова, Е. А..

The index used by France to assess the quality of coastal water bodies of the Water Framework Directive (WFD), for the Channel-Atlantic coast and for the quality element "soft substratum benthic invertebrates" is the M-AMBI. In their work, Sigovini et al. (2013) compare several methods of calculating M-AMBI and alternative indices with the values of M-AMBI. Their results show strong correlations between the values of the M-AMBI and those of the proposed alternatives. In a first step, the present work aims to compare M-AMBI values, obtained during the application of the assessment procedure of the quality of coastal water bodies for the Channel-Atlantic coast on the 2007 and 2010 data, with the values obtained for various alternative calculations and...

Metagenomic sequencing of environmental DNA reveals marine faunal assemblages from the West Antarctic Peninsula ArchiMer
Cowart, Dominique; Murphy, Katherine R.; Cheng, C. -h. Christina.
The West Antarctic Peninsula (WAP) is the fastest warming region in Antarctica where climate impact on the cold-adapted marine ecosystem is already visible. To monitor faunal changes in remote vast bodies of Antarctic waters, efficient and informative tools are essential. High-throughput sequencing of environmental DNA (eDNA) has emerged as one such tool for monitoring biodiversity and ecosystems, as it increases detection sensitivity of taxa, and sampling is often simpler and less costly than traditional collection methods. We collected water samples from four WAP shallow (≤ 300 m) shelf regions, recovered the eDNA therein, and performed metagenomic shotgun sequencing and analyses to determine the effectiveness of this method to assess marine benthic...

Use of biotic indices in semi-enclosed coastal ecosystems and transitional waters habitats - Implications for the implementation of the European Water Framework Directive ArchiMer
Blanchet, H; Lavesque, Nicolas; Ruellet, T; Dauvin, J; Sauriau, Pierre-guy; Desroy, Nicolas; Desclaux, C; Leconte, M; Bachelet, G; Janson, A; Bessineton, C; Duhamel, S; Jourde, J; Mayot, S; Simon, S; De Montaudouin, X.
This study deals with the application of macrozoobenthos-based biotic indices (BI) within the frame of the implementation of the European Water Framework Directive. More precisely, this study aimed at assessing the performance of five recently developed methodologies (BI) for the assessment of ecological quality status (EcoQ) in two semi-enclosed, sheltered coastal ecosystems and in one transitional water body situated along the Western French coast, namely Marennes-Oleron Bay, Arcachon Bay, and the Seine Estuary. This study showed that these five indices rarely agreed with each other, describing very different pictures of the overall EcoQ of the three study sites. This work also clearly underlined the limitations of these approaches, notably the...

Influence of food availability on the spatial distribution of juvenile fish within soft sediment nursery habitats ArchiMer
Tableau, Adrien; Brind'Amour, Anik; Woillez, Mathieu; Le Bris, H..
Soft sediments in coastal shallow waters constitute nursery habitats for juveniles of several flatfishes. The quality of a nursery is defined by its capacity to optimize the growth and the survival of juvenile fish. The influence of biotic factors, such as food availability, is poorly studied at the scale of a nursery ground. Whether food availability limits juvenile survival is still uncertain. A spatial approach is used to understand the influence of food availability on the distribution of juvenile fish of various benthic and demersal species in the Bay of Vilaine (France), a productive nursery ground. We quantified the spatial overlap between benthic macro-invertebrates and their predators (juvenile fish) to assess if the latter were spatially covering...

Estrutura da comunidade de invertebrados bentônicos em dois cursos d'água do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil Zoologia
Bueno,Alessandra A. P.; Bond-Buckup,Georgina; Ferreira,Bibiana D. P..
The benthic fauna has an important role in the trophic chain of limnic environments, serving as food for fishes and crustaceans. This work aimed to identify and compare, quantitative and qualitatively, the macrobenthic communities from two watercourses in Rio Grande do Sul State. Samplings were done with a Surber sampler, monthly, from September 1999 to August 2000, in one of the creeks forming Tainhas River(29º15'30,2"S, 50º13'12,5"W), around São Francisco de Paula city and in Mineiro Creek (29º30'0,2"S, 50º46'50"W), around Taquara city. At each sampling point, physical and chemical variables of the waters were registered. In the laboratory, the samples were sorted out and the animals identified and quantified. Dissolved oxigen, pH and stream speed were...

Biodiversity of benthic macroinvertebrates on hard substrates in the Currais Marine Protected Area, in southern Brazil Biota Neotropica
Bumbeer,Janaína; Cattani,André Pereira; Chierigatti,Nícolas Binneck; Rocha,Rosana Moreira da.
Abstract This study describes the biodiversity of benthic invertebrates on hard substrates in the Currais Marine Protected Area (Currais MPA), in the state of Paraná. The benthic community was sampled during 2012 to 2015, in winter and summer, at two islands and four groups of artificial reefs (ARs). Samples were collected along shallow (2-4 m) and deep (6-8 m) transects at the islands and ~18 m transects at the ARs. We also searched the literature to review all published records of benthic invertebrates on hard substrates in the Currais MPA. We recorded 176 taxa in the phyla Annelida (class Polychaeta), Arthropoda (class Maxillopoda, order Sessilia), Bryozoa, Cnidaria, Chordata (class Ascidiacea), Echinodermata, Mollusca and Porifera, in 13 classes, 40...
