Three kinds of volcanic ashes, namely clinoptilolite, pumice, and bentonite were tested in the year 2014 for the purpose of Si supply in order to increase brown planthopper resistance in rice. Longevity of adults, the number of nymphs, the number of eggs, percentage of hatching eggs, and survival percentage of 1st instar nymphs to adults were studied. Results from farmer’s trial found that silica in the leaf sheath of volcanic ashes plots were significant higher than control. But this amount of increased silica is not enough to control the brown planthopper population. Silica in the leaf sheath of Pathumthani 1 was significant lower than in RD41 and RD47. The amount of brown planthopper in Pathumthani 1 was significant higher than in RD41 and RD47. Rice... |
