PREDATION OF Brevicoryne brassicae AND Aphis craccivora BY Eriopis connexa DEPENDING ON AVAILABILITY Acta biol.Colomb.
SILVESTRE DOS SANTOS,Djison; CRISTINA PREDES TRINDADE,Roseane; BRAZ TORRES,Jorge; SILVA DE LIMA,Mauricio; DOS SANTOS,Lindinalva; COLARES BATISTA,Felipe.
ABSTRACT Predator species under field conditions can face different and variable densities of prey species. This work evaluated the functional response of the neotropical lady beetle Eriopis connexa (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) subjected to different densities of the aphids Brevicoryne brassicae and Aphis craccivora (Hemiptera: Aphididae). Thus, predation rates were analyzed of fourth-instar larvae and one-day old adults of the lady beetle preying upon the aphids at constant densities of 20, 40, 50, 60, and 70 aphids with 15 repetitions per density. The aphids were offered on 5 cm leaf discs of each plant host. The handling times and attack rates were 0.03 h-1 and 0.27 h-1 for larvae and 0.03 h-1 and 0.15 h-1 for adults fed B. brassicae and 0.59 h-1 and...

Native parasitoids (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) of fruit flies (Diptera: Tephritidae) in Serra da Bodoquena National Park-MS, Brazil Biota Neotropica
Almeida,Luciano Brasil Martins de; Coelho,João Batista; Guimarães,Jorge Anderson; Uchoa,Manoel Araecio.
Abstract: Fruit flies are among the main groups of phytophagous insects. Their larvae, when feeding on the pulp or seeds of the host fruits, can cause rot and favor the entrance of pathogens. Thus, the objectives of this study was: (1) To know the trophic associations between species of parasitoids and fruit flies in the Parque Nacional da Serra da Bodoquena (PNSB)-MS, Brazil. (2) To inventory the parasitoid species associated with fruit flies in fruit trees in the Parque Nacional da Serra da Bodoquena. Monthly expeditions were carried out (From Jan 2017 to Feb 2018) in order to collect the fruits and obtain the fruit flies (Tephritidae) and their respective parasitoids. The collected fruits were transported to the laboratory of frugivorous insects (LIF)...

Seasonal fluctuation in the population of Harmonia axyridis (Pallas, 1773) (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) and co-occurrence with other Coccinellids in the Federal District of Brazil Pap. Avulsos de Zool. (São Paulo)
Harterreiten-Souza,Érica Sevilha; Togni,Pedro Henrique Brum; Milane,Paloma Virgínia Gambarra Nitão; Cavalcante,Kelly Ramalho; Medeiros,Maria Alice de; Pires,Carmen Silvia Soares; Sujii,Edison Ryoiti.
The multicolored Asian lady beetle, Harmonia axyridis (Pallas, 1773), was first recorded in Brazil in 2002 in Paraná state and subsequently observed in Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul and Minas Gerais. This species can spread to new areas and become dominant in the local community, reducing the density and diversity of native species, mainly Coccinellidae. The objective of this work was to record for the first time the occurrence of H. axyridis in the Federal District and its co-occurrence with other Coccinellidae species. The individuals were collected directly from plants at an organic farm in Taguatinga and in experimental fields of Embrapa Hortaliças, located in the Federal District, from August 2008 to January 2010. We collected 881 Coccinelids, and...

First record and redescription of Binodoxys brevicornis (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Aphidiinae) from Argentina Rev. Soc. Entomol. Argent.
Zumoffen,Leticia; Salvo,Adriana; Salto,Cesar E.; Manfrino,Romina G.; Pike,Keith S..
Binodoxys brevicornis (Haliday) is reported for the first time for Argentina. This aphidiine was found parasitizing the aphid Hyadaphis foeniculi (Passerini) feeding on Foeniculum vulgare (Miller), a non-crop plant species commonly occurring near alfalfa crops. Binodoxys brevicornis is redescribed and illustrated.
