Effect of Egg Weight and Patio Strategies on Hatching Traits and Subsequent Performance of the Broilers Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Yameen,RMK; Hussain,J; Mahmud,A; Saima,.
ABSTRACT Objectives of the present study were to assess the hatchery based interventions and their impact on hatching traits and subsequent performance of broilers. In total, 3000 eggs of Hubbard broiler breeders were equally divided into Small (50-55 g), Medium (56-61 g) and Large (62-70 g) eggs. The eggs from each category were distributed into 20 trays each containing 50 eggs. Each tray was considered as a replicate. At the end of the 18th day of incubation, the eggs of each weight category were divided into four different patio strategies i.e. P0, P3, P5 and P7 where feed and water were provided to the chicks for 0, 3, 5 and 7 days in the hatcher followed by conventional rearing. Data were collected for hatch window, hatching traits, growth, physical...

Residual feed intake and hematological and metabolic blood profiles of lle de France lambs R. Bras. Zootec.
Paula,Edson Ferraz Evaristo de; Souza,Damaris Ferreira de; Monteiro,Alda Lúcia Gomes; Santana,Miguel Henrique de Almeida; Gilaverte,Susana; Rossi Junior,Paulo; Locatelli Dittrich,Rosangela.
The objectives of this study were to estimate the phenotypic correlations of residual feed intake (RFI) and gross feed efficiency (GFE) with hematological and metabolic blood profiles of lambs and to determine the differences for these traits in animals of different RFI classes. Twenty Ile de France male lambs, 115±8 days of age and 31.3±4.1 kg of body weight (means ± SD), were individually housed and their dry matter intake was measured over 65 days. They were weighed every 13 days to determine the average daily weight gain and two blood samples were collected at the last two weighings (at 07h30) for analysis of blood variables. The animals were divided into two classes: negative RFI (most efficient: <0.5 SD below the mean; n = 6) and positive RFI...

Seasonal variations in blood parameters of the Amazonian manatee, Trichechus inunguis BABT
Colares,Elton P.; Colares,Ioni G.; Bianchini,Adalto; Santos,Euclydes A..
Seasonal variations in body weight, food consumption and blood glucose, total lipids, urea, total proteins, albumin and globulins of captive Amazonian manatees, Trichechus inunguis, were determined. Body weight changed significantly along the year, increasing from autumn to spring and decreasing in summer. The mean daily food intake of paragrass remained almost unchanged along the year. Paragrass administered to the manatees showed important variations in crude protein and lipid content along the year. No significant differences in blood parameters were registered between males and females in all seasons. Further, there were no significant differences in blood total proteins, albumin and globulins along the year. On the other hand, significant differences...
