| Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the vegetative development and determine the concentration of sodium, potassium, and calcium in watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) grown on two organic substrates and under increasing saline concentrations. The substrates were soil + earthworm humus (S1) and soil + bovine manure (S2), and the saline treatments consisted of irrigation water with different electrical conductivities: 1.36 (control), 3.56, 5.76, and 7.96 dS m-1. | ABSTRACT Cactus pear is adapted to semi-arid conditions. In this study, the objective was to evaluate the water use efficiency and green and dry mass yields of the cultivar Gigante under different fertilization rates and sources in three production cycles, spacing and planting arrangement. Seventy two treatments, involving two types of arrangements in the plots, three spacings in the subplots and 12 types of fertilization in the sub-subplots were arranged in a split-split-plot scheme, using randomized block design with three repetions. | Este trabalho trata de diversos experimentos desenvolvidos procurando entender a influência do substrato para preenchimento das embalagens no desenvolvimento de mudas de erva-mate. Numa primeira etapa, instalou-se um ensaio em viveiro coberto com sombrite, onde foram testados diversos materiais (cama de aviário, esterco de suíno, esterco de bovino, vermiculita e vermicomposto) para compor substrato com terra de mata da camada superficial do solo e com terra de subsolo. Numa segunda etapa, desenvolvida em viveiro coberto com lona plástica incolor, testou-se o efeito de doses crescentes de esterco de bovino (0; 50; 100; 150; 200; 250 e 300 cm3) em embalagens de 600 cm3 completados com terra da camada superficial do solo.
