Effect of Selenium Supplementation in Broiler Diets on Breast Meat Deposition Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Vieira,VI; Durau,JF; Schramm,VG; Bassi,LS; Oliveira,SG; Maiorka,A.
ABSTRACT The objective of the study was to evaluate the deposition of selenium in the breast muscle of broilers fed different selenium sources during different periods. Two experiments were carried out with broilers fed 45% sodium selenite (SS) or 2% hydroxy-selenomethionine (HSM) to determine the selenium deposition rate in the muscle tissue. In Experiment 1, 48 broilers were distributed in a completely randomized design with six treatments with eight replicates each, consisting of diets containing 0 Se (0), 200 or 400 µgSS/kg (200 SS, 400 SS), or 100, 200, or 300 µgHSM/kg (100 HSM, 200 HSM, 300 HSM) for 10 days. The highest Se breast content was obtained with 300 HSM diet, followed by 200 SS diet compared to the other treatments. Experiment 2 had a...

Effect of Moringa Oleifera Leaf Powder Supplementation on Pectoral Muscle Quality and Morphometric Characteristics of Tibia Bone in Broiler Chickens Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Rehman,HF; Zaneb,H; Masood,S; Yousaf,MS; Ashraf,S; Khan,I; Shah,M; Khilji,MS; Rehman,H.
ABSTRACT Although in-feed antibiotics work for broiler chicken´s growth, they are a source of public health hazard. Therefore, there is a need for alternates which can act as growth promoter without deleterious effects on the health of meat consumers. Moringa oleifera is one such phytobiotic which is reported to possess antimicrobial and immuno-modulatory properties. This study investigated the effect of Moringa oleifera leaf powder (MOLP) supplementation on meat quality and bone morphometry of broiler. One-day-old chicks (n=100), divided into five groups (four replicates with n=5), were fed a basal diet (control group) or same diet supplemented with 6, 9, 12 or 15 g/kg MOLP. On d-35, two birds per replicate were euthanized to collect samples of breast...

Organic trace minerals and calcium levels in broilers' diets to 21 days old Scientia Agricola
Faria,Bruno Damaceno; Silva,Leandro Moreira; Ribeiro Junior,Valdir; Ferreira,Adriana Helena do Nascimento; Rostagno,Horacio Santiago; Albino,Luiz Fernando Teixeira; Hannas,Melissa Izabel.
ABSTRACT: This study was undertaken to evaluate the effects of dietary calcium levels and supplementation with organic trace minerals selenium, copper, iron, zinc and manganese on performance, tissue deposition and litter mineral concentration. A total of 2,496 one-day-old male Cobb 500 broilers were randomly assigned to a 3 × 4 factorial experimental design with three levels of dietary Ca [8, 10 and 12 g kg–1, while maintaining the same Ca:nPP (non-phytate phosphorus) ratio (2:1)] and four levels of micromineral supplementation (0.62, 0.72, 0.82 and 0.92 g kg–1). There was a total of 12 treatments, with eight replicates of 26 birds per pen. Micromineral supplementation (MS) was achieved by adding different levels of the product Bioplex TR Se® and Ca...
