Multiatr: a tool for ranking of pairwise alternatives. Infoteca-e
LOBO, R. N. B..
The decision-making process is complex and often demands time and difficulties for managers, project coordinators and, especially here, specialists in genetic improvement programs. Tools that can help this process are always welcome and are added to other alternatives for a correct and efficient decision. Despite the possibility of being used in several areas of knowledge, the MultiAtr software was specially developed for the definition of weights for the selection objectives of animal breeding programs. Its use in interviews with specialists, breeders and scholars can contribute to the direction of these programs by the scientists involved in this decision. Based on this, it is recommended, for the scientific community and other decision-making actors,...

Sgrmate: for maximizing genetic gain and controlling inbreeding. Infoteca-e
LOBO, R. N. B..
Genetic evaluations in animal breeding are essential for identifying superior individuals, who can be selected to compose the next generation. The indication of sires and dams of proven genetic value improves the efficiency of production systems. On the other hand, the use of few animals in the selection process can increase the inbreeding of the herds, which can reduce the animals’ vigor and reduce future genetic variability. Additionally, with the availability of genetic value from several animals, the decision of how to combine these parents for the possibility of greater genetic gain is not such a simple task. Imagine having to combine 20 sires with 300 dams, who should be mated with whom? The availability of a tool to carry out this work has a great...

Establishment of growth medium and quantification of pollen grains and germination of pear tree cultivars Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Nogueira,Paulyene Vieira; Coutinho,Givago; Pio,Rafael; Silva,Daniel Fernandes da; Zambon,Carolina Ruiz.
ABSTRACT To support breeding programs of pear tree, on the selection of cultivars to subtropical area in Brazil, the objective of this research was to adjust the growth medium basic to pollen grain germination. The pollen grains of 'D'Água' cultivar were spread on the surface of Petri dishes containing 20 ml of culture medium in accordance with the following sequential experiments: 1) ágar (4; 6; 8 and 10 g L-1) and pH (3,5; 4,5; 5,5 and 6,5); 2) sucrose (0; 30; 60 and 90 g L-1); 3) calcium nitrate (0; 200; 400 and 800 mg L-1); 4) boric acid (0; 400; 800 and 1200 mg L-1); 5) temperature of incubation (15; 20; 25 e 30 ºC) and 6) emission time of the pollen tube (0; 1; 2; 3; 4; 5 and 6 hours after inoculation). After incubation, the germination rate of...

Phenotypic and molecular characterization of corn hybrids released from 1980 to 2000 Ciência Rural
Bispo,Noryam Bervian; Tessele,Carolina; Barbosa Neto,José Fernandes.
Genetic variability is the basis of plant breeding. In corn, a large and diverse genetic pool permits manipulation of different genotypes, but the genetic diversity of tropical germplasm has been little studied. With the objective of analyzing the amplitude of the genetic variability in 15 hybrids released in different periods by three different seed companies, phenotypic and molecular characterization was carried out in three environments and at two plant densities. The phenotypic assessment showed great similarity among the hybrids, suggesting that the breeding programs have developed genotypes with similar phenotypic traits. The dendogram of the molecular analysis showed clustering according with the different companies suggesting that each corn...
