Productive performance of confined young bulls fed proportions of 'Mulato II' grass silage in the diet PAB
Missio,Regis Luis; Alexandrino,Emerson; Silva,Darlene Pereira da; Paula Neto,Joaquim José de; Rezende,José Messias de; Silva,André Augusto Marinho; Silva,Denise Vieira da.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the performance of young Nellore bulls and of young dual-purpose dairy bulls fed proportions of 'Mulato II' grass silage (400 and 100 g kg-1), in diets with high levels of concentrate, as well as to evaluate the cost of this feed. Sixteen young Nellore bulls and 16 young dairy crossbred bulls were used, with initial average weight of 380.69±10.45 and 376.94±17.16 kg, respectively, and average initial age of 24 months. A completely randomized experimental design was carried out in a 2x2 factorial arrangement. The highest silage proportion caused a 13% increase in dry matter intake (percentage of body weight) and a 19.7% decrease in dry matter digestibility of the diet, but it did not alter the intake of...

Analysis of Variables Affecting Carcass Weight of White Turkeys by Regression Analysis Based on Factor Analysis Scores and Ridge Regression Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Çelik,Ş; Şengül,T; Söğüt,B; Inci,H; Şengül,AY; Kayaokay,A; Ayaşan,T.
ABSTRACT In this study, the influence of carcass parts weights (thigh, breast, wing, back weight, gizzard, heart, and feet) on whole carcass weight of white turkeys (Big-6) was analyzed by regression analysis based on ridge regression and factor analysis scores. For this purpose, a total of 30 turkey carcasses of 15 males and 15 females with 17 weeks of age, were used. To determine the carcass weight (CW), thigh weight (TW), breast weight (BRW), wing weight (WW), back weight (BW), gizzard weight (GW), heart weight (HW), and feet weight (FW) were used. In the ridge regression model, since the Variance Inflation Factor (VIF) values of the variables were less than 10, the multicollinearity problem was eliminated. Furthermore, R2=0.988 was obtained in the...

Proportions of sugarcane and babassu mesocarp bran in diets for feedlot cattle R. Bras. Zootec.
Augusto,Wescley Faccini; Ribeiro,Glauco Mora; Restle,João; Missio,Regis Luis; Neiva,José Neuman Miranda; Miotto,Fabrícia Rocha Chaves; Rocha,Higor Patrick Sousa Lopes.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the production performance of feedlot cattle fed diets containing chopped sugarcane ratios (580 or 380 g/kg of diet dry matter) as roughage and levels of inclusion of babassu mesocarp bran (BMB; 420 to 620 g/kg of concentrate dry matter). Twenty-four young Nellore bulls with 321±23 kg initial body weight, at 22 months of age, were used in a completely randomized experimental design with treatments in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement and six replicates. Dry matter intake (21.71 g/kg of body weight), average daily gain (1.46 kg/day), and cold carcass weight (232.59 kg) were not changed by proportion of sugarcane or BMB level. The proportions of sugarcane and BMB levels did not change the apparent...

Steers production in integrated crop-livestock systems: pasture management under different sward heights Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Wesp,Cristiane de Lima; Carvalho,Paulo César de Faccio; Conte,Osmar; Cadenazzi,Mónica; Anghinoni,Ibanor; Bremm,Carolina.
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different grazing intensities on forage production and animal performance of yearling steers kept under permanent grazing in an integrated crop-livestock system. The treatments consisted of areas with sward heights of 10; 20; 30 and 40 cm, and one treatment with no grazing. The pastures were of bristle oat (Avena strigosa Schreb.) and annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) following soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.). The variables forage mass, forage allowance and residual straw showed a positive and linear fit to the increasing sward height (P≤0.0001). Average daily gain of steers displayed a quadratic response (P = 0.0017), being optimal with increases in grazing height up to values of near...

Dry matter intake, performance and carcass characteristics of hair sheep reared under different grazing systems Scientia Agricola
Santos,Viviane Rodrigues Ventolin dos; McManus,Concepta; Peripolli,Vanessa; Tanure,Candice Bergmann; Lima,Paulo de Mello Tavares; Corrêa,Patrícia Spoto; Brito,Daiana Lima; Torres,Sônia Emília Figueiredo de Araújo; Louvandini,Helder.
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of three different grazing systems: isolated, alternate and simultaneous, on feed intake, performance and carcass characteristics of sheep. About 5.2 ha area of Tanzania grass (Panicum maximun Jacq cultivate Tanzania) was divided into 13 paddocks. This area was used as a stocking rate of two animal units (AU) per ha for 7 days’ occupation and 21 days rest. A total number of 58 animals were used consisting of 12 heifers and 30 Santa Ines lambs with the addition of 16 adult ewes that were used to stabilize grazing pressure in the isolated system. The sheep were fed on 200 g per head per day of concentrate and cattle 2 kg per head per day. The parameters determined were the following: weekly weight...
