A Review on the Celiac Trunk Compression Syndrome: Some Anatomic Clinical-Surgical Aspects International Journal of Morphology
Petrella,Selma; Prates,José Carlos.
The objective of this study was to review some celiac trunk compression syndrome aspects such as: symptom-posture relationship; absence of symptoms; syndrome-age relationship; angiographic study on anatomy of the celiac trunk stenosis; congenital or acquired origin; invasive diagnostic tests; surgical and postoperative results.

Variations of Celiac Artery in Dogs: Anatomic Study for Experimental, Surgical and Radiological Practice International Journal of Morphology
Abidu-Figueiredo,M; Dias,G. P.; Cerutti,S; Carvalho-De-Souza,B; Maia,R. S.; Babinski,M. A..
The purpose of this study is gain a better understanding of the anatomical variations of celiac artery and its branches in dogs. The celiac artery supply was analyzed in thirty dogs. The animals were injected with solution of Petrolatex S65 and dissected to evidence the celiac artery origin and its proximal ramifications. The celiac artery and its proximal branches were dissected and lengthen. The celiac artery more frequently emerged ahead of the first lumbar vertebra in one way form. The medium length of the celiac artery was of 0.98 cm. The gastrolienal trunk was the predominant morphological arrangement with medium length of 0.19 cm. The lienal artery emerged in one way form emitting more frequently 2 main branches. A branch emerging of the celiac...

Origin of Inferior Phrenic Arteries in the Celiac Trunk International Journal of Morphology
Petrella,Selma; Rodriguez,Celio Fernando de Sousa; Sgrott,Emerson Alexandre; Medeiros Fernandes,Geraldo José; Marques,Sergio Ricardo; Prates,José Carlos.
The knowledge of the arterial anatomic variations is very important for the clinical, radiological and surgical diagnosis. Regarding inferior phrenic arteries, which irrigate the diaphragm, it is known that they vary in relation to their origin. The purpose of the present study is to verify these variations. The abdominal cavity of eighty-nine adult cadavers of both sexes was dissected, of which 69 fixed in 10% formalin solution and 20 non-fixed. The fixed cadavers were dissected in Laboratories of Anatomy of the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP-EPM), the Santo Amaro University (UNISA) and Lusiadas de Santos University (UNILUS). The non-fixed cadavers were dissected from the Death Verification Service of the city of São Paulo (USP) and from the...

Morphology and Vascularization of the Gastric Compartments in Three-Toed Sloth (Bradypus torquatus Illiger, 1811) International Journal of Morphology
Rezende,L. C; Monteiro,J. M; Carvalho,P; Ferreira,J. R; Miglino,M. A.
The macroscopic anatomy and vascularization of the stomach compartments of Bradypus torquatus were examined in five animals from the University of São Paulo College of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechny collection. The method included aqueous perfusion of the arterial network, colored latex injection, fixation in formaldehyde (10%) and preservation in Laskovisk solution. Dissections were performed under mesoscopic light and photo documentations were performed for description and data analysis. In these animals, the largest abdominal organ was the stomach, which internally presented the cardiac, fundic and prepyloric regions, subdivided in six compartments (cardiac right, middle and left; fundic; pre-pyloric I and II). The stomach was irrigated by the left...

Celiac Trunk Compression Syndrome: A Review International Journal of Morphology
Petrella,Selma; Prates,José Carlos.
The purpose of the present review is to report the anatomic and the clinical-surgical aspects involved in the celiac trunk compression syndrome by the median arcuate ligament of the diaphragm, reviewing the major findings of the syndrome in the anatomic field during dissection of cadavers, followed by clinical-surgical findings of stenosis of the celiac trunk, the relationship of this stenosis with the patient's symptoms and healing after decompression of that artery; invasive and non-invasive methods used to diagnose compression; the stenotic effect of physiologic mechanisms of the median arcuate ligament, aorta and celiac trunk displacement during respiration; anatomy of the aortic channel and celiac plexus; the median arcuate ligament and the celiac...
