Filter cake is by - product of cane sugar manufacture. It consists of plant nutrient which is useful for soil fertility improvement. According to low fertility of most paddy soils, an experiment had been conducted with combination of chemical fertilizer application and filter cake incorporation for soil fertility and yield improvement in two different soil types in wet season during 1992-2002. This experiment was 4x3 factorial in randomized complete block design, 3 replications, 2 factors with 4 filter cake rates at 0, 500, 1,000 and 1,500 kg/rai and 3 nitrogen rates at 0, 3 and 6 kg N/rai for photo sensitive rice cultivar (Khao Dawk Mali 105) planted in Koksamrong Soil Series (sandy loam, mixed isohyperthermic, typic tropaqualfs) at Lop Buri Rice Research...

Sulfate fertilizer influencing methane emissions in paddy field and rice (cv. Chainat 1) production Thai Agricultural
Patcharee Saenjan; Natthakittiya Paiboon; Jamnong Tragoolram.
Methane (CH4) is one of the most important greenhouse gases having a significant impact upon global warming. Today, paddy fields are a major source of methane production. The objective of our experiment is to investigate whether sulfate fertilizer can reduce the amount of methane emissions from the paddy field into the atmosphere, while maintain or increase fertility of the paddy soil, and the rice production of Chainat1. The experimental plan was structured using the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD), consisting of four treatments: 1) Incorporation of rice stubble without the usage of sulfate fertilizer, 2) Incorporation of rice stubble using sulfate fertilizer, 18 kg SO4/rai, 3) Incorporation of rice stubble using sulfate fertilizer, 32 kg SO4/rai,...

This research was continued from the Marker Assisted Selection (MAS) backcross breeding program for improve CNT1 to resist to BPH by introgressed a Bph3 resistant gene from K/R IL into CNT1. A population was already done in BC3F1. This study was attempted to develop BC4F1-BC4F3 and validated BPH resistance in improved lines. Two markers, RM170 and RM190 which linked to Bph3 gene and plant type were going together used for selecting the target plants. Twenty heterozygous BC4F1 and eighty three homozygous BC4F2 plants were selected. Finally, seventy seven BC4F2 lines carrying Bph3 were used for BPH evaluation with 3 BPH population from Phitsanulok, Tak and Pathum Thani. The results showed that almost improved lines were higher resistant to BPH than CNT1 and...
