With an exploratory character, this... |

17 indices are selected, such as the growth rate of total regional output value, the proportion of tertiary industry in GDP, per capita financial expenditure, and soil erosion rate of Guizhou Province in 2009. According to the relevant indices data of statistical yearbook and governmental website, by using the method of factor analysis and the method of cluster analysis, we assess the competitiveness of county economy in 88 counties of Guizhou Province. The results show that the competitiveness of county economy in Guizhou Province is impacted by factors of location and economic foundation. In addition, the resources environment, economic structure, economic developmental speed and other factors also impact the competitiveness of county economy in Guizhou... |

Within the debate about developing countries export competitiveness the increasing importance of food safety and quality standards especially in OECD countries appeals to be one of the major sources of concern. The paper analyses the trade performance of 73 developing countries within the context of stricter SPS measures. The analysis concentrates on the meat and fruit / vegetable sectors as especially high value product sectors are determined by standards. The periods under consideration are 1993- 1995, as a period before the implementation of the SPS Agreement and 2002- 2004, as a period after the implementation. A cluster analysis groups the countries according to the variables "ratio" and "difference" of the export value to OECD countries including the... |

Taking China Rural Statistical Yearbook in 2008 as the data source, we select 10 indices scientifically and rationally. By using SPSS statistical software, factor analysis method and cluster analysis method in multivariate statistical analysis, we conduct analysis on the level of rural economic development in 31 provinces, municipalities directly under the Central Government, autonomous regions in China. Finally we extract 4 composite factors and offer the overall ranking of them. We divide the 31 regions of China into four types, namely the regions with developed agricultural economy, the regions with relatively developed agricultural economy, the regions with less-developed agricultural economy, and the regions with underdeveloped agricultural economy. |

In spite of different economic agents’ interests, as well as the Administration’s effort in promoting extensive beef-producing systems over the last years, this kind of activity still hasn’t reached the desirable levels, being necessary that farmers perceive an appropriate benefit which supports their activity. In this sense, this paper, using the data obtained by a statistical survey representing all the extensive beef-producing farms existing in Castile and Leon (Spain), aims to analyze the economical results of extensive beef-producing farms, previously classified in representative groups according a quantitative method. The study is a preliminary research which intends to generate additional knowledge about the role of the different variables which... |

This study was carried out in the Serrote reservoir, sited in the Groaíras watershed at the northeastern region of Ceará State, Brazil. The aim was to investigate the temporal and spatial variability of water quality. Data investigation was processed using multivariate analysis/cluster analysis and GIS techniques. Samples were taken in four stations spreading out over the water body during five campaigns of collection (February, May, August/2007 and May, August/2008). The water quality parameters analyzed were: Electric Conductivity (EC), pH, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), temperature, chlorophyll 'a' concentration and Total Phosphorus (TP). Two homogeneous groups were identified, which expressed the inter-annual seasonality influence in the water quality. The... |
