ABSTRACT: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between economic indicators of soybean crops ( Glycine max L.) cultivated with Crop-Livestock Integration (CLI) or with grain production in winter, and the chemical, physical and biological attributes of the soil. It was selected ten agricultural sites in Santa Catarina to measure economic results and edaphic attributes, data was submitted to a Principal Components Analysis (PCA). Results indicated that soybean production in the summer and grain production in the winter yielded better economic results compared with summer soybean and CLI in winter. This reflects the higher productivity of the crops (9.1%) and the improved chemical, physical, and biological attributes of the soil (with the exception of... |

Soybean production in Brazil has grown rapidly in recent years. The objective of this publication is to evaluate the potential impact of Brazilian soybean production on North Dakota and other producers. Brazil, followed by Argentina, is the leading producer in South America. All South American soybean production surpassed the United States during 2002-03. In Brazil, production and yields have grown the fastest in Mato Grosso (Center-West) and other expansion states that have Cerrado land. Soybean costs of production for 2003 harvest are considerably lower in Mato Grosso than in North Dakota and Iowa even when freight costs to Rotterdam are considered, giving them a strong competitive position in the world market. Consequently, Mato Grosso soybean... |

Faced with the imminent opening up of the trade in México in 2008, cultivation sugar cane (Sacchrum spp.) It has a strong competitive pressure from other producing countries that are operating with cost and low prices. Hence the need to seek production alternatives that could improve the profitability and competitiveness of this crop. For this propose was raised in this paper which compares the production systems of drip irrigation (high-tech) and irrigation by gravity (traditional technology). To performe the evaluation was used prior to the technical evaluation methodology for determinig the financial Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and Net Present. To make risk analysis, Trusts Institutions regarding Agriculture, it was used two packages that use computer... |

This report documents data and other information gathered from a survey of rural households in China. The survey was conducted as part of a research project aimed at assessing the potential for meat and feed grain exports to China. Responses to the survey questions provide information about grain and livestock production practices, costs of production, animal inventories, and feeding practices. The report describes the survey and collection process, summarizes selected data from the survey, and provides anecdotal information about livestock production and marketing in Chongqing, Sichuan, Shandong, and Jilin provinces. |

China's accession to the World Trade Organization, a significant event for U.S. agricultural trade, has been viewed as benefitting U.S. farmers, especially midwestern farmers. This research compares the productivity and cost of production (COP) of China and the United States in producing corn, soybeans, and hogs. The results show that the U.S. Midwest (defined in this study as the Heartland region as classified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Economic Research Service) has a substantial advantage in land and labor productivities in producing corn and soybeans, especially compared to China's South and West producing regions. However, China's Northeast region, a major corn- and soybean-producing area, has a very competitive COP over the U.S. Midwest.... |
