Risk and Uncertainty Analysis with Networks of Decisions AgEcon
Recke, Guido.
In this paper an applied approach for analysing economic problems under risk and uncertainty based on networks of decisions (NODs) will be discussed. It can be shown that network of decision analysis can help to understand complex decision problems under risk and uncertainty in single case situations. A variety of decision criteria like expectation values and a special ANOVA can be used to get better knowledge about prediction and controllability of the decision problems.

Prioritizing Invasive Species Threats Under Uncertainty AgEcon
Moffitt, L. Joe; Osteen, Craig D..
Prioritizing exotic or invasive pest threats in terms of agricultural, environmental, or human health damages is an important resource allocation issue for programs charged with preventing or responding to the entry of such organisms. Under extreme uncertainty, program managers may decide to research the severity of threats, develop prevention or control actions, and estimate cost-effectiveness in order to provide better information and more options when making decisions to choose strategies for specific pests. We examine decision rules based on the minimax and relative cost criteria in order to express a cautious approach for decisions regarding severe, irreversible consequences, discuss the strengths and weaknesses of these rules, examine the roles of...

Analysis of Influencing Factors and Decision Criteria on Infield-Logistics of different Farm Types in Germany CIGR Journal
Mederle, Michael; Bernhardt, Heinz.
In future increasing production efficiency in agriculture will not only be achieved by rising machinery working widths but more and more by optimization of entire production process chains. The more machines are interacting the higher will be the specific optimization potential.Navigation not only to the fields but also within the fields will certainly contribute to make use of these efficiency reserves. Necessary therefore is the knowledge of potential influences on infield-logistics to be able to navigate agricultural machinery in the fields effectively and process optimized.Preliminary studies based on GPS-lane analysis in different German agricultural regions and in Central Canada show that decisions on specific infield patterns to a certain degree...
