DECREASE IN OFF-PEAK ELECTRICAL ENERGY DEMAND BY AGROINDUSTRIES DUE TO PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR GENERATION REA
Viana,Lucas de A.; Oliveira Filho,Delly; Toledo,Olga M.; da Silva,Samuel C.; Dalvi,Giovanni G..
ABSTRACT The largest energy losses and voltage variations from electricity suppliers occur at times of peak demand. Daytime peaks are mainly influenced by large industrial and commercial consumers. The installation of photovoltaic systems without energy storage to supply part of the demand can contribute to stabilize the voltage and reduce losses. These and other benefits constitute the so-called externality of the decrease in off-peak demand due to photovoltaic generation. The objective of this study was to investigate the role of this externality in agroindustry, as a consumer of electrical energy, in order to better understand its effects on the consumer and the utility. The implementation of photovoltaic systems was simulated with the objective to...

Gender Policies in Entrepreneurship Development: An Intra-Household Market Analysis AgEcon
Ayoola, Josephine Bosede.
The universal implementation of women empowerment programmes has received analytical attention within the economic theory context . A two-commodity structure of the customary household economy was conceptualized, and analysed under the usual assumptions to describe the nature of the intra-household market for women entrepreneurship. The low-income household system produces two hypothetical commodities namely, Women Entrepreneurship (WE) and Non-Entrepreneurial Works (NEW) which form the main elements of the Stone-Geary type utility function. A system of linear expenditure equation was derived and estimated by regression to yield the empirical parameters of demand curve for WE. while the supply curve was derived based on the traditional production function...

On the Use of Multi-Unit Auctions in Measuring Consumers’ Willingness to Pay for Food Products AgEcon
Akaichi, Faiçal; Nayga, Rodolfo M., Jr.; Gil, Jose Maria.
This paper proposes the use of multi-unit auctions in studying consumers’ willingness to pay (WTP) for food products in a multi-unit shopping scenario. We show how this method can overcome the limitations of single-unit experimental auctions in obtaining useful information related to WTP for not just the first unit but also subsequent units of a product, the demand curve, consumer surplus, the determinants of consumers’ WTP for each auctioned unit, and the effect of potential price discount strategies.

Italian Consumption of Wild and Farmed Fish: Demand and Elasticity Estimation AgEcon
Gerolimetto, M.; Mauracher, Christine; Procidano, I..
In this paper, we present an analysis of farmed and wild fish in Italy using microdot. Instead of estimating a traditional parametric model such as AIDS, we employ Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) and evaluate elasticities using a method specific of the non-parametric framework. As input variables, we consider not only the traditional economic factors but also some socio-demographic ones.
