Nitrogen supply to arugula from pig slurry composts in contrasting soils Horticultura Brasileira
Monteiro,Luanna C; Aita,Celso; Schirmann,Janquieli; Pujol,Stefen B; Mezzalira,Ana Paula; Paust,Kathleen da S; Freiberg,Cristian Mateus; Giacomini,Diego Antônio; Giacomini,Sandro José.
ABSTRACT This study was developed to evaluate nitrogen (N) supply to arugula from composts produced by automated composting of pig slurry (PS). During the composting process, retorted oil shale (ROS) and dicyandiamide (DCD) were added to PS to mitigate gaseous N losses. The study was developed in a greenhouse where four treatments were evaluated, three with compost addition (PS compost, PS compost + ROS, and PS compost + ROS + DCD) and one without compost (control) in two contrasting soils (clayey and sandy-loam). The best result was obtained with the compost without additives (PS compost), which increased the arugula dry matter yield 2.2 times in clayey soil and 6.1 times in sandy-loam soil compared to the control treatment. The presence of ROS in...

ABSTRACT: The impact on nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions caused by combining dairy slurry (DS) and urea to supply crops with nitrogen (N) is still not well characterized. The main objective of this study was to compare the differences between N2O emissions in the cases of exclusive use of urea and the combined use of DS and urea as N sources to no-tillage wheat and corn. We also compared N2O emissions between two DS application methods (surface-broadcast vs. injection), as well as the addition of dicyandiamide (DCD) to DS. The experiment was conducted under no-tillage and six treatments were applied at sowing as follows: no fertilization (control), surface-broadcast urea (urea-N), surface-broadcast DS (DSs), surface-broadcast DS with DCD (DSs + DCD),...

Incorporation in soil and addition of enzyme inhibitor as a way to increase the efficiency of pig slurry and mineral fertilizer Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Erdmann,Luiza Fernanda; Cassol,Paulo Cezar; Sacomori,Wagner; Dall´Orsolleta,Daniel João; Montovani,Analu.
ABSTRACT The incorporation of nitrogen (N) fertilizers in the soil and the use of enzyme inhibitors (EI) can improve the efficiency of N fertilization by reducing losses by ammonia volatilization and nitrate leaching. This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of EI addition and fertilizer incorporation on both grain and dry mass yields of corn as well as on some soil chemical properties, with focus on N availability. A field experiment was carried out for three years in randomized blocks with four replications. The treatments consisted of a 2 × 5 factorial, including two forms of fertilizers application: superficial (SUP) and incorporated (INC), allocated in the plots; and five fertilizations: mineral fertilizer (NPK); NPK + EI; pig slurry (PS); PS+EI;...

Root extracts of Bracchiaria humidicola andSaccharum spontaneum to increase N use by sugarcane Scientia Agricola
Kölln,Oriel Tiago; Franco,Henrique Coutinho Junqueira; Ferreira,Danilo Alves; Vargas,Vitor Paulo; Castro,Saulo Augusto de Quassi; Cantarella,Heitor; Caldana,Camila; Trivelin,Paulo Cesar Ocheuze.
ABSTRACT Retaining the mineral N in the form of NH4+ in the soil for a lengthy period is desirable for reducing losses. Furthermore, there is evidence that sugarcane prefers NH4+-N in place of NO3−-N. This study aimed firstly, to evaluate the potential of root extracts of Bracchiaria humidicola andSaccharum spontaneum, in contrast with the DCD (Dicyandiamide) inhibitor, to increase absorption of N by plants fertilized with ammonium sulfate, and secondly, to quantify the emission of N2O fluxes with the use of this inhibitor. The experiment was developed in a glasshouse in an entirely randomized design where four treatments were applied: AS) ammonium sulfate (control); AS+DCD) ammonium sulfate associated with dicyandiamide; AS+BCH) ammonium sulfate...
