Abstract The aim of this research was compare methods for pigments extraction and color determination in different tomato for processing cultivars, and choose the most promising materials for the industry. The tomatoes for processing studied were of the IT761, H9992, H9553, AP533, Advance, N901, BRSena, U2006, HY26, HY37 and HY68 cultivars. The extraction yields of lycopene and β-carotene using acetone and the mixture of ethanol, acetone and hexane (10:10:20) were determined, and the parameters of color were determined by colorimetric and digitals image methods (Cielab and Hunterlab), besides other physicochemical characteristics. RESUMO: Este trabalho apresenta uma abordagem metodológica para obter o índice de vazios de solo (e) utilizando técnicas de processamento de imagens. Como esse método permite uma obtenção automática, o procedimento pode ser considerado mais fácil, mais rápido e mais preciso que técnicas convencionais. A metodologia está baseada na classificação supervisionada de áreas de vazios presentes em seções delgadas de solo. RESUMO: Existem vários métodos para avaliar o crescimento da vegetação e a taxa de cobertura do solo. Medidas precisas e rápidas podem ser obtidas do tratamento digital de imagens geradas de câmeras fotográficas ou de vídeo. Há disponível, no mercado, diversos processadores de imagens que apresentam funções básicas semelhantes, mas com certas particularidades que poderão trazer maior benefício para o usuário, dependendo da aplicação. A method to assist the reading of calcified structures with digital images is proposed. An a priori growth pattern is introduced in the image processing to take into account both the variability of the ring size and the non-linearity of their growth. The introduction of biological knowledge is performed within a demodulation processing using the reciprocal growth function. The ring number is estimated by spectral analysis. The aim of this study was to correlate the morphodigital characteristics of the trabecular mandibular bone, in this way, it is possible to observe osteoporosis clue in patients of both sex, using panoramic radiograph for analysis. The results of this study showed statistical difference between men and women considering the bone trabecular measures (p<0.05), but it was not found statistical difference between the sides in each analyzed group (p>0.05). Male group presented a more strongly trabecular and complex bone than the female group, this finding is important index to osteoporotic risk, being possible to affirm that the male bone is less probable to suffer a osteoporotic fracture |

デジタルカメラと照明装置とを一体化した枝肉横断面撮影装置(以下,撮 影装置)を,より多くの枝肉に適用可能とするよう改良し,得られた画像を利用し て,牛肉色基準(BCS)ナンバーを推定することを目的とした.撮影装置は,リング 照明方式を採用し,装置の高さを従来型より12cm低い33cmとした.内部には,1,002 個の白色発光ダイオードが配置され,均一で安定した光を枝肉横断面に照射可能であ る.BCS標準模型について撮影装置からの画像より得られた赤(R),緑(G),青 (B)各階調値および輝度とBCSナンバーとの相関係数は,それぞれ-0.98,-0.91, -0.82および-0.99であり,BCSナンバーと輝度との関係がもっとも直線的であっ た.北海道内の食肉処理場において,第6-7肋骨横断面の画像を採取し(n= 1,208),変数逐次増減法による重回帰分析を行い,BCSナンバーを画像解析形質から 推定した.推定されたBCSナンバーと格付員によるそれとが一致した割合は76.8%,そ れが±1以内であった割合は,100.0%となった. ABSTRACT Color hue is a variable frequently used postharvest to assess the physiological maturity of various fruits. In general, mean color hue is quantified by visual techniques, but this method, based on human grading, is tedious and may be erroneous. The color of fruit peel is frequently determined at four points randomly distributed on the equatorial region of a fruit, but this practice can lead to biased results because these points represent the equatorial region only and not the total area of the fruit peel. Consequently, this bias is not due to equipment measurement errors, but to the bias in the sampling process of the points on the fruit epidermis. Grape (Vitis vinifera L.) yield and its quality are dependent of the status of the root system. Root distribution information is also valuable for soil and water management. An analysis of methods to evaluate the root distribution of grapevines for both, drip and microsprinkler irrigation in a Typic Acrustox is presented for the table grape cv. Italia grafted on the rootstock IAC-313, in northeastern Brazil.
