Low density lipoprotein modified silica nanoparticles loaded with docetaxel and thalidomide for effective chemotherapy of liver cancer BJMBR
Ao,Man; Xiao,Xu; Ao,Yazhou.
In the present study, we successfully developed a docetaxel (DTX) and thalidomide (TDD) co-delivery system based on low density lipoprotein (LDL) modified silica nanoparticles (LDL/SLN/DTX/TDD). By employing the tumor homing property of LDL and the drug-loading capability of silica nanoparticles, the prepared LDL/SLN/DTX/TDD was expected to locate and specifically deliver the loaded drugs (DTX and TDD) to achieve effective chemotherapy of liver cancer. In vitro analysis revealed that nano-sized LDL/SLN/DTX/TDD with decent drug loading capabilities was able to increase the delivery efficiency by targeting the low density lipoprotein receptors, which were overexpressed on HepG2 human hepatocellular liver carcinoma cell line, which exerted better cytotoxicity...

Development, in vitro biocompatibility, and antitumor efficacy of acetic acid-modified Cordyceps sinensis polysaccharide nanoparticle drug delivery system BJPS
Guan,Jiao; Han,Liqin; Shi,Nianqiu; Zhu,Heyun; Wang,Junmin.
Docetaxel-loaded acetic acid conjugated Cordyceps sinensis polysaccharide (DTX-AA-CSP) nanoparticles were prepared through dialysis and their release rates in vitro, particle sizes, zeta potentials, drug loading capacities, and encapsulation efficiencies were characterized for the synthesis of AA-modified CSPs from traditional Chinese medicine Cordyceps sinensis (Berk.) Sacc. Then, the AA-modified CSPs were characterized by 1H-NMR and FT-IR. Furthermore, the biocompatibility of the delivery carrier (AA-CSP nanoparticles) was assessed on human umbilical vein endothelial cells. In vitro antitumor activity studies on DTX-AA-CSP nanoparticles were conducted on the human liver (HepG2) and colon cancer cells (SW480). The DTX-AA-CSP nanoparticles were spherical...

Preparation, characterization, and antiproliferative activities of biotin-decorated docetaxel-loaded bovine serum albumin nanoparticles BJPS
Cheng,Kai; Sun,Shaoping; Gong,Xianfeng.
ABSTRACT The aim of the present study was to characterize biotin-decorated docetaxel-loaded bovine serum albumin nanoparticles (DTX-BIO-BSA-NPs) and evaluate their antiproliferative activity in vitro. The particle size of prepared DTX-BIO-BSA-NPs was found to be always lower than 200 nm, with sizes of 166.9, 160.3, 159.0, 176.1 and 184.8 nm and the zeta potential was -29.51, -28.54, -36.54, -36.08 and -27.56 mV after redissolution with water for 0, 1, 2, 4 and 8 hours, respectively. The polydispersity index (PDI) was stable in the range of 0.170 - 0.178. In the in vitro drug-release study, the DTX-BIO-BSA-NPs targeted a human breast cancer cell line MCF-7 effectively. The x-ray diffraction spectrum and DSC curve of DTX-BIO-BSA-NPs suggested that docetaxel...
