Implementing double-robust estimators of causal effects AgEcon
Emsley, Richard; Lunt, Mark; Pickles, Andrew; Dunn, Graham.
This article describes the implementation of a double-robust estimator for pretest–posttest studies (Lunceford and Davidian, 2004, Statistics in Medicine 23: 2937–2960) and presents a new Stata command (dr) that carries out the procedure. A double-robust estimator gives the analyst two opportunities for obtaining unbiased inference when adjusting for selection effects such as confounding by allowing for different forms of model misspecification; a double-robust estimator also can offer increased efficiency when all the models are correctly specified. We demonstrate the results with a Monte Carlo simulation study, and we show how to implement the double-robust estimator on a single simulated dataset, both manually and by using the dr command.

Improving seed production of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) plants as a response for Calcium and Boron CIGR Journal
El-Dahshouri, Mohamad Farouk.
Two field experiments were carried out in summer successive seasons of 20115 and 2016 at the Vegetables Research Farm at Kaha, Qalubia Governorate Egypt. Experiment aimed to study the foliar application with calcium (Ca) and boron (B) on growth, nutrient content and yield quantity and quality of dry beans plant (Phaseolus vulgaris L.).The experiments were arranged in randomized complete block design. The obtained results showed that vegetative growth and seed yield and its components of dry bean plants were significantly increased by the foliar application with calcium or/and boron before and/or before and after flowering when compared with control treatment during the two seasons. The highest vegetative growth values were recorded by Ca at 2500 ppm or Ca...

Effect of zinc foliar application at different physiological growth stages on yield and quality of wheat under sandy soil conditions CIGR Journal
El-Dahshouri, Mohamad Farouk.
Micronutrients are critical factor for plant production. The main target of this study was to evaluate the effect of rates and time of zinc foliar application on growth, nutrient contents, yield and its components of wheat Sakha94 and Gemmieza9 cultivars under sandy soils conditions. In this regard two field experiments were conducted during 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 seasons at Ismailia Agricultural Experimental Station of the Agricultural Research Center (ARC), Ismailia Governorate, Egypt.Statistical analysis of the illustrated data indicated that all studied characters were significantly affected by zinc foliar application. The highest values of grain and straw yield were resulted under two sprays as compared to the other treatments of zinc application....

Enhancing Le-Conte Pear Trees Performance by Foliar Spray with Different Iron Concentrations CIGR Journal
El-Dahshouri, Mohamad Farouk.
Pear trees cv. Le Conte (Pyrus communis, L.) budded on Pyrus communis rootstock, uniform in vigor, thirteen years old, grown in sandy soil spaced at 4x4 m, under drip irrigation system in a private orchard located at El-Tall El-Kepeer, Ismailia Governorate, Egypt. Trees were foliar sprayed by five mineral iron concentrations (0.0, 250, 500, 1000 and 2000 ppm) as ferrous sulphate (FeSO4.7H2O) form at two times (Mid May and June) during successive seasons 2014 and 2015. This study was conducted with the aim to examine the response of leaf chlorophyll content, active iron, nutrient status, yield components quantity and quality of Le Conte pear trees to foliar feeding of iron concentrations as well as to evaluation the current status of foliar fertilization...
