Sampling accuracy and precision are basic to nematode research and rational management decision. Taylor's Power Law is used to determine sample size. The published power law parameters are used here differently to define levels of reliability associated with a fixed, cost-determined, sample size. Such levels may provide the decision-maker with more informative data on sampling methods and their reliabilities. Instead of solving for unknown sample number, the rearranged equation to solve for sampling accuracy permitted the use of exact Student’s t-values. The t-values for confidence limits and standard normal variate were used. The objective of this work was to study the acid and enzymatic hydrolysis of cassava bagasse for the recovery of reducing sugars and to establish the operational costs. A statistical program "Statistica", based on the surface response was used to optimize the recovery of reducing sugars in both the processes. The process economics was determined considering the values of reducing sugars obtained at laboratory scale, and the operations costs of a cylindrical reactor of 1500 L, with flat walls at the top and bottom. The reactor was operated with 150 kg of cassava bagasse and 1350 kg of water. The yield of the acid hydrolysis was 62.4 g of reducing sugars from 100 g of cassava bagasse containing 66% starch. Pollinator shortages can adversely affect crop production and commodity markets. This paper presents an economic model than can be used to measure some of the economic impacts of pollinator deficits on traded commodities. The integration of local knowledge and science represents an opportunity to enhance the understanding of interrelations among climate, hydrology, and socioeconomic systems while providing mutual benefits to scientists and rural communities. Insight from rural Alaskans helped to identify a social-ecological threshold used to model potential driftwood harvest from the Yukon River. Information from residents of Tanana, Alaska, was combined with scientific data to model driftwood harvest rates. Modeling results estimated that between 1980 and 2010, hydrologic factors alone were responsible for a 29% decrease in the annual wood harvest, which approximately balanced a 23% reduction in wood demand because of a decline in number of households. Pela analise dos dados de produtividade e lucro bruto, constatou-se que para producao de mudas de seringueira do tipo toco-enxertado de raiz nua, pelo metodo de enxertia verde, o melhor espacamento em viveiro, tecnica e economicamente para a producao de porta-enxertos, e' de 60cm x 15cm, enquanto que para producao de mudas pelo metodo de enxertia convencional o melhor espacamento e' de 70cm x 15cm, seguido de perto por 60cm x 15cm. Os valores de produtividade e lucro obtidos com esses espacamentos foram superiores aos obtidos com o espacamento tradicional de 100cm x 50cm x 30cm. O custo medio de producao de porta-enxerto foi menor para os espacamento de 60cm x 15cm e 70cm x 15cm, para ambos os metodos de enxertia.
