A new species of Tyrannoseira (Collembola: Entomobryidae: Seirini) from the Brazilian coastal region Rev. Bras. Zool.
Bellini,Bruno Cavalcante; Godeiro,Nerivania Nunes.
A new species of Tyrannoseira Bellini & Zeppelini, 2011 (Entomobryidae) is described and illustrated. Specimens of T. diabolica sp. nov. were collected in Barreira do Inferno, state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. This is the fourth described species in the genus. All males of Tyrannoseira have the femora of the first pair of legs enlarged and slender tibiotarsi, both bearing several spine-like setae. Probably the closest species to T. diabolica sp. nov. is T. sex Bellini & Zeppelini, 2011. They share many similarities in their color pattern and dorsal chaetotaxy.

A new species of Campylothorax (Collembola: Entomobryoidea: Paronellidae) from the state of Alagoas, Brazil Rev. Bras. Zool.
Bellini,Bruno Cavalcante; Meneses,Liugo Fernando.
Campylothorax Schött, 1893 is a genus of Paronellidae known only from the Neotropical and Ethiopian zoogeographic provinces. Herein a new species of this genus is described and illustrated. Campylothorax mitrai sp. nov. was found in remains of Atlantic Rainforest at Rio Largo municipality, state of Alagoas, Brazil. It is the ninth described species of Campylothorax and the third recorded from Brazil. Campylothorax mitrai sp. nov. can be distinguished from other species of the genus by its peculiar dark blue color pattern associated to a unique set of setae in the labial triangle, where there is a large distinct seta 'E'. This condition is unique among Campylothorax species. Campylothorax mitrai sp. nov. is the first record of Collembola from Alagoas.

EDAPHIC MESOFAUNA COMMUNITY STRUCTURE IN ORGANIC AND CONVENTIONAL MANAGEMENT OF CRANBERRY (Vaccinium sp.) PLANTATIONS: AN AGROECOLOGICAL APPROACH R.C. Suelo Nutr. Veg.
Peredo P,Santiago F; Parada Z,Esperanza; Vega C,Marcela; Barrera S,Claudia P.
The aim of the present study was to determine and compare taxa richness, abundance and diversity of the edaphic mesofauna community between plantations of cranberries (Vaccinium sp.) subjected to organic and conventional management in farms in central-south Chile (37°28'S), as also to evaluate changes produced in their diversity and abundance diversity and abundance, as result of the change from conventional to organic management. In July 2006 two farms were chosen, one with one year under organic management (OM1) and a second one under six years of certified organic management (OM6). Each farm was divided in four quadrants, each one with a surface of 2,500 m . In each quadrant was extracted one sample with six replicas of 188.5 cm³ each. Samples were...

Taxocenotic and biocenotic analysis over time of edaphic mesofauna in organic Vaccinium sp. plantations southern central Chile Agrociencia
Peredo-P.,Santiago F.; Barrera-S.,Claudia P.; Parada-Z.,Esperanza; Vega-C.,Marcela.
Soil functioning is determined by the diversity of organisms inhabiting the soil and their role in the edaphic ecosystem, and the variety of forms and functions of the roots of the plants where they live. Invertebrates are an integral part of soil and are important in determining the suitability of the soil for the sustainable production of healthy crops or trees. In Chile there are no studies on edaphic mesofauna in plantations subjected for a longer period to certified organic management. The aim of the present study was to analyze the taxocenotic and biocenotic similarities over time of taxa of edaphic mesofauna in a cranberry plantation (Vaccinium sp.) subjected to organic management practices in farms in Southern Central Chile (37° 28' S). In July...

Diversity of springtails (Collembola) in agricultural and forest systems in Southern Santa Catarina Biota Neotropica
Ortiz,Danielle Cristina; Santos,Marcielli Aparecida Borges dos; Oliveira Filho,Luís Carlos Iuñes de; Pompeo,Pâmela Niederauer; Niemeyer,Júlia Carina; Klauberg Filho,Osmar; Baretta,Carolina Riviera Duarte Maluche; Sampietro,Jean Alberto; Baretta,Dilmar.
Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of soil use on the morphological diversity of springtails and to verify the relationship of these organisms with soil physical, chemical, and microbiological properties. Samples were collected in the Southern region of Santa Catarina, involving three municipalities: Orleans, Lauro Müller, and Siderópolis, in the land use systems (LUS) of native forest (NF), Eucalyptus plantation (EP), pasture (PA), integrated crop-livestock (ICL), and no-tillage (NT). Soil samples to determine edaphic properties and pitfall traps were collected in winter and summer, in the same areas. The collected springtails were counted and morphotyped and the data were analyzed through abundance, Shannon-Wiener diversity...
