Use of long-acting progesterone to acyclic embryo recipient mares R. Bras. Zootec.
Greco,Gabriel Maksoud; Burlamaqui,Fábio Luis Gonçalves; Pinna,Aline Emerim; Queiroz,Fernando José Rohen de; Cunha,Maria Pia dos Santos; Brandão,Felipe Zandonadi.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of cyclic and acyclic progesterone-treated recipient mares in a commercial embryo transfer program. Acyclic recipients were treated with decreasing amounts of estradiol cypionate (ECP® - Pfizer Saúde Animal, São Paulo, Brazil), followed by 1500 mg of a sustained-release progesterone injection (P4LA150® - Laboratórios B.E.T., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). Out of all 1506 embryo recovery attempts performed, 59.36% were positive (894/1506). Pregnancy rates of cyclic and acyclic mares were, respectively, 44.12% (319/723) and 57.68% (139/241) - higher in acyclic recipients under progesterone treatment. Embryo loss was similar between groups (9.72% 31/319 vs. 11.51% - 16/139). When fertility data on acyclic...

Latitudinal comparisons of reproductive traits in five Brachyuran species along the Chilean coast RChHN
BRANTE,ANTONIO; CIFUENTES,SANDRA; PÖRTNER,HANS-OTTO; ARNTZ,WOLF; FERNÁNDEZ,MIRIAM.
Understanding large-scale patterns in reproductive investment and fecundity of marine invertebrates is important for determining the critical environmental variables affecting reproduction and thus, the spatial patterns of population dynamics. However, information on patterns of reproduction of marine invertebrates at large spatial scales are either scarce, or have been conducted by mixing species with contrasting modes of development. Brachyuran crabs are an ideal group to analyze large-scale patterns of reproduction not only because many species are commercially exploited, but also because they show a single mode of larval development and wide distributional ranges. Here, we report latitudinal patterns of reproductive variables in five Brachyuran crab...

Effects of prostaglandin administration 10 days apart on reproductive parameters of cyclic dairy nulliparous goats Arq. Bras. Med. Vet. Zootec.
Fonseca,J.F.; Maffili,V.V.; Santos,A.D.F.; Fürst,R.; Prosperi,C.P.; Rovay,H.; Souza,J.M.G.; Torres,C.A.A..
This study reported the effects of prostaglandin (PGF2a) administration 10 days apart on reproductive parameters of cyclic artificial inseminated (AI) nulliparous Alpine (n=9) and Saanen (n=9) goats. Animals received two doses of 22.5mg PGF2a 10 days apart. After 1st and 2nd PGF2a administrations, estrus was monitored at 12 h intervals, with a buck teaser. Plasma progesterone concentration (ng/mL) was determined from blood sampled on day 0 (1st PGF2a) and the following 5, 10 (2nd PGF2a), 15, 20, 25 and 30 days. After the onset of the second estrus, females were transrectally (5 MHz probe) scanned at 4 hour intervals until at least 8h after ovulation. Pregnancy was checked through transrectal ultrasound on days 20, 25, 30, 35 and 90 after insemination. All...
