THE PHOTOVOLTAIC ELECTRIFICATION IN ISOLATED COMMUNITIES OF CARDOSO ISLAND STATE PARK - SP REA
Baschiera,Luciene M.; Fagnani,Maria A..
ABSTRACT This study concerns a research conducted in 2014, in isolated communities of Cambriú and Foles belonging to the Cardoso Island State Park-SP, in order to establish a link between electrification through isolated photovoltaic systems type SIGIFI 30 (30 kWh/month) with the existing demands, interactions and changes in traditional communities studied. The energy in this case is presented as a structure component to these demands regarding to the labor, agriculture, fishing, health, education, comfort of buildings and income generation. The objective was to conduct an analysis of the implementation of photovoltaic electrification process, and to establish a relationship with the surveyed communities. The results demonstrated that electrification...

Industrial Coal Demand in China: A Provincial Analysis AgEcon
Cattaneo, Cristina; Manera, Matteo; Scarpa, Elisa.
In recent years, concerns regarding the environmental implications of the rising coal demand have induced considerable efforts to generate long-term forecasts of China’s energy requirements. Nevertheless, none of the previous empirical studies on energy demand for China has tackled the issue of modelling coal demand in China at provincial level. The aim of this paper is to fill this gap. In particular, we model and forecast the Chinese demand for coal using time series data disaggregated by provinces. Moreover, not only does our analysis account for heterogeneity among provinces, but also, given the nature of the data, it captures the presence of spatial autocorrelation among provinces using a spatial econometric model. A fixed effects spatial lag model...

Russia Agriculture Policy Review AgEcon
Melyukhina, Olga; Tanguay, Luc; Vaughan, Odette; Jotanovic, Aleksandar.
In recent years, as a result of a strong demand for energy and other natural resources, Russia's economy has experienced impressive growth. Russia's re-emergence as a political and, particularly, economic power have allowed it to increase policy support to its agricultural sector. Russia's size, improving prospects, and growing policy support make developments in its agricultural sector of interest to Canada.

Energy use reduction and input productivity growth in Australian industries AgEcon
Syed, Arif.
A report by the Prime Minister’s Task Group on Energy Efficiency (July 2010) emphasised the need for improved energy efficiency as a response to climate change to ensure a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from energy consumption in Australia. However, empirical evidence on energy efficiency and its effect on energy use in Australia is scarce. Given this, estimates of the magnitude of the autonomous energy efficiency improvement parameter and the bias in technological change in Australia’s agricultural and industrial sectors have been made, using statistical and econometric techniques. The strong interaction prevailing between capital use and energy productivity in many industries indicates that energy use efficiency may be augmented by optimising...
