ABSTRACTThe digestible lysine requirement for the growth performance of broilers fed diets with decreasing energy to protein ratio and reared under subtropical summer conditions were determined. Treatments consisted of five wheat-based diets with five levels (0.90, 0.95, 1.00, 1.05 and 1.10%) of digestible lysine (DL) and lowering energy to protein ratio (EPR; 13.6, 12.8, 12.0, 11.4 and 11.0), with five replicates of 80 birds each (n = 2000). Body weight gain (BWG) significantly increased by increasing DL levels during wk 1 (p<0.001), while 1.05% DL promoted the highest BWG during the whole experimental period (p<0.01). ABSTRACT This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) as a source of protein in layer diets on product performance, egg quality, hatchability, fertility, and sensory characteristics of eggs. The BSFL contained a high percentage of protein (559.9 g kg−1), metabolizable energy (696.3 kcal kg−1), crude fat (18.6 g kg−1), and dry matter (178 g kg−1) and a good balance of amino acids. A total of 54 Arabic strain hens at nine months of age were mixed with nine cocks at 12 months old; all were divided into three treatments. Foram conduzidos três ensaios para avaliar os níveis de energia metabolizável (EM) e a melhor relação energia:proteína (E:P) para aves de corte machos de crescimento lento criadas em semiconfinamento nas fases inicial (1 a 21), de crescimento (22 a 49) e de terminação (50 a 70 dias de idade). Em cada ensaio, 400 machos da linhagem ISA Label na fase de criação foram alojados em instalação experimental constituída de 20 piquetes com área coberta de 3,13 m²para alimentação e recolhimento das aves e uma área de pastejo de 72,87 m².
