Effects on diets with reduction of crude protein and methionine + cystine (RCP) and protease supplementation (PRO) for laying hens at different ages and their influence on the internal quality of eggs at different conditions (STO) and storage times (TM) are evaluated. Four hundred and twenty eggs from commercial Hy-Line W36 laying hens collected at 32, 44 and 58 weeks of age were used. Experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial scheme 3 x 2 x 2 x 2: RCP (control, enhancement of one and two times the enzyme protease), PRO (with and without protease), STO (room temperature and refrigerated) and TM (14 and 28 days), with seven replications of one egg per experimental unit. The factorial scheme 3 x 2 x 2 was used at 58 weeks of age, because... |

This study aimed to evaluate the digestibility of plant energetic ingredients, corn, sorghum and wheat bran, with and without phytase supplementation, in silver catfish (Rhamdia voulezi). The experimental design was completely randomized, represented by eight treatments, which consisted of the development of a reference diet and a test diet for each ingredient evaluated (corn, sorghum and wheat bran), with and without supplemental phytase. Diets were formulated so as to contain 70% reference feed and 30% test ingredient. The digestibility coefficients of dry matter and crude protein were significantly influenced only in relation to the evaluated ingredients. Phytase influenced the digestibility coefficients of energy and phosphorus, with interaction... |

The effect of wheat-based diet (WBD), supplemented with xylanase and surplus vitamin A, on performance, nutrient digestibility, intestinal morphology and digesta viscosity of broiler chickens was investigated. Based on a completely randomized design, 240-day-old chickens were randomly divided into six experimental diets and four replications with 10 chickens each. Experimental diets consisted of corn-based diet (CBD) (T1), WBD with routine amounts of vitamin A (9000 IU kg-1) (T2), T2 without vitamin A in premix (T3), T2 + 6000 IU kg-1 vitamin A (T4), T2 + 420 IU kg-1 xylanase (T5), and T2 + 6000 IU kg-1 vitamin A + 420 IU kg-1 xylanase (T6). For Feed Conversion Rate (FCR) between day 1 and 21 and between day 21 and 42 WBD supplemented with vitamin A and... |

Asparaginase is an enzyme used in clinical treatments as a chemotherapeutic agent and in food technology to prevent acrylamide formation in fried and baked foods. Asparaginase is industrially produced by microorganisms, mainly gram-negative bacteria. Zymomonas mobilis is a Gram-negative bacterium that utilizes glucose, fructose and sucrose as carbon source and has been known for its efficiency in producing ethanol, sorbitol, levan, gluconic acid and has recently aroused interest for asparaginase production. Current assay optimizes the production of Z. mobilis asparaginase by continuous fermentation using response surface experimental design and methodology. The studied variables comprised sucrose, yeast extract and asparagine. Optimized condition obtained... |

The production of tannase by Aspergillus sp. GM4 under solid-state fermentation (SSF) was investigated using different vegetables leaves such as mango, jamun, coffee and agricultural residues such as coffee husks, rice husks and wheat bran. Among substrates used jamun leaves yielded high tannase production. The Plackett-Burman design was conducted to evaluate the effects of 12 independent variables on the production of tannase under SSF using jamun leaves as substrate. Among these variables, incubation time, potassium nitrate and tannic acid had significant effects on enzyme production. The best incubation time was studied and others variables were optimized using the Central Composite Design. The best conditions for tannase production were: incubation... |

ABSTRACT An experiment was conducted to evaluate broiler chicken performance and carcass yield in response to carbohydrase supplementation (Xylanase and Betaglucanase; XB) and association of carbohydrase and phytase (PHY). A total of 1,920 day-old male broiler chicks (Cobb 500) were distributed in a completely randomized design with 8 treatments and 8 replicates each, allocated in 64 pens with 30 chicks each. The treatments were: Positive Control (PC); Negative Control (NC): reduced ME [-120kcal/kg (Starter) and -170kcal/kg (Finisher)]; NC + XB [50g/ton]; NC + XB [100g/ton]; NC + XB [150g/ton]; NC + XB [50g/ton] + PHY [100g/ton]; NC + XB [100g/ton] + PHY [100g/ton]; NC + XB [150g/ton] + PHY [100g/ton]. The inclusion of XB (150) and XB (50, 100, and 150)... |

Gel permeation chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography were employed for separation and chemical characterization of products isolated from chrome shavings. After enzymatic hydrolysis, the products isolated were peptides of higher molecular weight. Peptides of lower molecular weight and free aminoacids were the main products using sulfuric acid in chrome shavings solubilization. Glycine (17%) , glutamic acid (10.6%) , alanine (9.2%) , and arginine (8.2%) were the principal amino acids found. Phenylalanine(1.8%) was the main aromatic amino acid , while tryptophane was completely absent. |
