Terpene production in the peel of sweet orange fruits Genet. Mol. Biol.
Takita,Marco A.; Berger,Irving J.; Basílio-Palmieri,Ana Carolina; Borges,Kleber M.; Souza,Juliana M. de; Targon,Maria L.N.P..
Terpenoids constitute the largest and most diverse class of natural products. They are important factors for aroma and flavor, and their synthesis is basically done from two compounds: isopentenyl diphosphate and dimethylallyl diphosphate. Isopentenyl diphosphate is synthesized through two different pathways, one that occurs in the cytoplasm and one in the plastid. With the sequencing of ESTs from citrus, we were able to perform in silico analyses on the pathways that lead to the synthesis of terpenes as well as on the terpene synthases present in sweet orange. Moreover, expression analysis using real-time qPCR was performed to verify the expression pattern of a terpene synthase in plants. The results show that all the pathways for isopentenyl diphosphate...

Morphologic characterization of spiked pepper's germplasm Horticultura Brasileira
Gaia,José Maria D; Mota,Milton Guilherme da C; Conceição,Carmen Célia C da; Maia,José Guilherme S.
Spiked pepper is a plant species with properties that allow the development of natural agrochemicals and medicines, showing large potential of use by humanity. With aim to ascertain the phenotypical variability, 41 parentals were analyzed, sampled in the States of Pará and Amazonas. Principal Component analysis and Jolliffe's criterion were utilized for discarding of variables, subsidized by the Pearson's Correlation. It took seven components to explain 80% of the variation. The essential oil yield and number of leaves per branch were suggested to be discarded because they are the characteristics that have contributed least to the total variance. The 3D scatter diagram constituted a relatively homogeneous and continuous clustering, identifing a divergent...

Coeficientes técnicos e avaliação econômica do sistema de produção de pimenta longa no Acre. Infoteca-e

Phytochemical and pharmacological studies on Mikania micrantha H.B.K. (Asteraceae) Phyton
Pérez-Amador,MC; Muñoz Ocotero,V; Ibarra Balcazar,R; García Jiménez,F.
Asteraceae is one of the largest families of Angiospermae, and contains the Mikania genus. Several species of this family contain polyacetylenic and thiophenic compounds which are used as taxonomic markers. Also, their phototoxic activity acts as plant defense mechanism. In this paper we report the absence of these compounds in Mikania micrantha. We also describe the composition of the volatile oil from the seeds and inflorescence in the species. Linalool and α-pinene were the main components of this M. micrantha's essential oil. This study tested the ability of extracts of Mikania micrantha to inhibit the mouse ear inflammation in response to topical application of 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA). The antibacterial activity of...
