Effect of flaxseed (Linum usitatissimum) and soybean (Glycine max) oils in Egyptian lactating buffalo and cow diets on the milk and soft cheese quality Animal Sciences
Hassan, Laila Khaled; Shazly, Ahmed Behdal; Kholif, Abd El-Kader Mahmoud; Sayed, Ahmed Farouk; El-Aziz, Mahmoud Abd.
Produce and compare soft cheese with potential benefits of human health from Egyptian buffalo's and cow's milk was studied. Eight Egyptian lactating buffalos and cows were fed a total mixed ration supplemented with either 0% oil (CD), 2% flaxseed oil (DFO), 2% soybean oil (DSO), or 2% of their mixture (1:1, DFSO) according to a double 4 x 4 Latin Square design. Milk yield was similar between buffalo's diets but was higher in cows fed a DFO, DSO or DFSO resulting in 11.15, 8.21% or 8.97% increases compared with the control diet, respectively. Milk composition was not significantly affected in both buffalos and cows fed diets. The DFO, DSO or DFSO displayed decreased short-chain fatty acids, especially DSO and DFSO (3.73 and 3.33%, respectively) when...

The Effect of Ferrous Nano-oxide Particles on Physiological Traits and Nutritional Compounds of Soybean ( Glycine max L.) Seed Anais da ABC (AABC)
SHEYKHBAGLOU,ROGHAYYEH; SEDGHI,MOHAMMAD; FATHI-ACHACHLOUIE,BAHRAM.
ABSTRACT Soybean (Glycine max L.) seed contains amounts of protein, lipid, carbohydrate and mineral elements, which protein and lipid have been known as a main part for soybean’s trade value. In this study, in order to investigate the effect of ferrous nano-oxide particles on nutritional compounds of soybean seed, an experiment with 5 treatments and 3 replications was conducted as a randomized complete block design. Treatments were 5 concentrations of ferrous nano-oxide particles including 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1 g L-1 which were sprayed 3 times at 4 and 8 leaves stage and pod initiation. Lipid and protein contents, fatty acids profile, some of mineral elements such as Fe, Mg, Ca and P, chlorophyll a, b and total chlorophyll content were determined....

The objective of this study was to investigate the fatty acid composition of Pimedolus maculatus fillets of fish fed with different diets. The fish were submitted to an adaptation period (over 30 days) and fed only a control diet (diet I). After this period, the fish were divided into two groups: one group received a diet enriched with flaxseed oil (diet II), and the other received a diet enriched with conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) (diet III). Subsequent collections were undertaken after 25 and 50 days. Compared to the control samples, fish fed diet II showed an increase in concentrations of total fatty acid omega-3 (n-3) in the fillets, with an improvement ratio of n-6/n-3. The incorporation of CLA into fish fed diet III was successful. Supplementing the...

Physicochemical evaluation and fatty acids profile of broiler chicken fed broiler diets containing barley brewer (Hordeum vulgare) Ciênc. Tecnol. Aliment.
Novello,Daiana; Fonseca,Ricardo Alves da; Pollonio,Marise Aparecida Rodrigues; Franceschini,Priscilla.
The aim of this study was to analyze the chemical composition and the fatty acids (FA) profile of broiler chicken (breast and thigh/on-thigh) fed diets containing 10 and 20% of barley and a control diet. The FAs were evaluated by gas chromatography. There was not a significant difference (p > 0.05) in the breast chemical composition. In the thigh/on-thigh cut, the ration containing 20% of barley reduced the ashes (p < 0.05). Regarding the saturated FA composition, only the breast myristic acid treated with 10% of barley was reduced (p < 0.05). None of the diets influenced the polyunsaturated (PUFA) and monounsaturated (MUFA) FA's content (p > 0.05). As for the ω6/ω3 ratio, the highest one was observed in the 20% barley fed animals, in both...

Comparative study of fatty acid profiles in the muscular tissue (Longissimus dorsis ) of bovines from Chile, Paraguay and Brazil Ciênc. Tecnol. Aliment.
ZAMORANO,Marcela; TOMIC,Gerda; SILVA,Jose Rolando; OSORIO,Fernando.
Abstract Per capita meat consumption in Chile is 89.1 kg per year in 2014, of which approximately 25 kg are beef. Some 50% of the beef consumed is imported as vacuum packaged meat from two species, Bos taurus, produced mainly in Chile, Argentina and Paraguay, and Bos indicus, which comes mainly from Brazil and Paraguay. The latter two countries account for the highest levels of beef imports in Chile. The objective of this investigation was to study and compare the fatty acid profiles of beef from Bos Taurus from Chile and Bos indicus from Paraguay and Brazil. Samples of vacuum packaged Longissimus dorsi muscle tissue were collected from private companies, two Chilean, three Paraguayan and two Brazilian. The fatty acid profiles were determined by GLC...

Fatty acids stability in goat yoghurt Ciência Rural
Pecová,Lenka; Samková,Eva; Hanuš,Oto; Hasoňová,Lucie; Špička,Jiří.
ABSTRACT: Evaluation of fatty acids (FAs) stability in dairy products undergoing technological milk processing is important for subsequent determinations of nutritional value. The aim of the study was to assess FA composition in milk and its dairy product and to explore differences in the FA profile found in yoghurt compared to raw material (goat milk). In the present study, a reduced proportion of volatile FAs (VFA) that cause “goat flavor” was reported in goat yoghurt in comparison to the FA profile of milk. Conversely, an increase of medium-chain as well as beneficial long-chain and unsaturated FAs (UFA) was reported in yoghurt compared with milk. In all cases, the differences in the FA composition between milk and yoghurt were not significant;...

Quality differences of gilthead sea bream from distinct production systems in Southern Europe: Intensive, integrated, semi-intensive or extensive systems ArchiMer
Valente, L. M. P.; Cornet, Josiane; Donnay-moreno, Claire; Gouygou, Jean-paul; Berge, Jean-pascal; Bacelar, M.; Escorcio, C.; Rocha, E.; Malhao, F.; Cardinal, Mireille.
The quality of gilthead sea bream from distinct production systems and geographical locations in Southern Europe was evaluated to differentiate aquaculture products from extensive, integrated and semi-intensive systems from the ones produced intensively. This work analysed the external appearance of fish, yields after filleting as well as nutritional, sensory and histological characteristics of the muscle. The results showed that the yellow-golden line between eyes and the shiny red spot on the gill cover can be important and easy criteria to discriminate aquaculture products. Trimming losses are higher in fish from intensive systems. Lipid content of fish from extensive systems was significantly lower than values observed for fish reared intensively....
