Quality differences of gilthead sea bream from distinct production systems in Southern Europe: Intensive, integrated, semi-intensive or extensive systems ArchiMer
Valente, L. M. P.; Cornet, Josiane; Donnay-moreno, Claire; Gouygou, Jean-paul; Berge, Jean-pascal; Bacelar, M.; Escorcio, C.; Rocha, E.; Malhao, F.; Cardinal, Mireille.
The quality of gilthead sea bream from distinct production systems and geographical locations in Southern Europe was evaluated to differentiate aquaculture products from extensive, integrated and semi-intensive systems from the ones produced intensively. This work analysed the external appearance of fish, yields after filleting as well as nutritional, sensory and histological characteristics of the muscle. The results showed that the yellow-golden line between eyes and the shiny red spot on the gill cover can be important and easy criteria to discriminate aquaculture products. Trimming losses are higher in fish from intensive systems. Lipid content of fish from extensive systems was significantly lower than values observed for fish reared intensively....

Physicochemical characterization of bunches from American oil palm (Elaeis oleifera H.B.K. Cortes) and their hybrids with African oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) Acta Agron. (Palmira)
Chaves,Gabriel; Ligarreto-Moreno,Gustavo Adolfo; Cayon-Salinas,Daniel Gerardo.
Abstract The aim of this study was to carry out a comparative analysis of physical and chemical traits of bunches from genotypes of Elaeis oleífera and their interspecific hybrids OxG with Elaeis guineensis, establishing values in bunch components and oil potential, as well as oil quality by analyzing fatty acids, vitamin E and carotenes content. Bunches stemmed from inflorescences without assisted pollination and perimeter presence of E. guineensis. The experimental design used, was a completely randomized experimental design with three experimental units, each comprised of three bunches. E. oleifera Sinú genotype (76.53 %) and OxG hybrid II (72.64 %) obtained the highest fruit set. Regarding oil extraction potential, values were higher in OxG hybrids,...

Effect of flaxseed (Linum usitatissimum) and soybean (Glycine max) oils in Egyptian lactating buffalo and cow diets on the milk and soft cheese quality Animal Sciences
Hassan, Laila Khaled; Shazly, Ahmed Behdal; Kholif, Abd El-Kader Mahmoud; Sayed, Ahmed Farouk; El-Aziz, Mahmoud Abd.
Produce and compare soft cheese with potential benefits of human health from Egyptian buffalo's and cow's milk was studied. Eight Egyptian lactating buffalos and cows were fed a total mixed ration supplemented with either 0% oil (CD), 2% flaxseed oil (DFO), 2% soybean oil (DSO), or 2% of their mixture (1:1, DFSO) according to a double 4 x 4 Latin Square design. Milk yield was similar between buffalo's diets but was higher in cows fed a DFO, DSO or DFSO resulting in 11.15, 8.21% or 8.97% increases compared with the control diet, respectively. Milk composition was not significantly affected in both buffalos and cows fed diets. The DFO, DSO or DFSO displayed decreased short-chain fatty acids, especially DSO and DFSO (3.73 and 3.33%, respectively) when...

The Effect of Ferrous Nano-oxide Particles on Physiological Traits and Nutritional Compounds of Soybean ( Glycine max L.) Seed Anais da ABC (AABC)
SHEYKHBAGLOU,ROGHAYYEH; SEDGHI,MOHAMMAD; FATHI-ACHACHLOUIE,BAHRAM.
ABSTRACT Soybean (Glycine max L.) seed contains amounts of protein, lipid, carbohydrate and mineral elements, which protein and lipid have been known as a main part for soybean’s trade value. In this study, in order to investigate the effect of ferrous nano-oxide particles on nutritional compounds of soybean seed, an experiment with 5 treatments and 3 replications was conducted as a randomized complete block design. Treatments were 5 concentrations of ferrous nano-oxide particles including 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1 g L-1 which were sprayed 3 times at 4 and 8 leaves stage and pod initiation. Lipid and protein contents, fatty acids profile, some of mineral elements such as Fe, Mg, Ca and P, chlorophyll a, b and total chlorophyll content were determined....

Fatty acids stability in goat yoghurt Ciência Rural
Pecová,Lenka; Samková,Eva; Hanuš,Oto; Hasoňová,Lucie; Špička,Jiří.
ABSTRACT: Evaluation of fatty acids (FAs) stability in dairy products undergoing technological milk processing is important for subsequent determinations of nutritional value. The aim of the study was to assess FA composition in milk and its dairy product and to explore differences in the FA profile found in yoghurt compared to raw material (goat milk). In the present study, a reduced proportion of volatile FAs (VFA) that cause “goat flavor” was reported in goat yoghurt in comparison to the FA profile of milk. Conversely, an increase of medium-chain as well as beneficial long-chain and unsaturated FAs (UFA) was reported in yoghurt compared with milk. In all cases, the differences in the FA composition between milk and yoghurt were not significant;...
