| Under some cultivation conditions, excessive growth of the pseudostem of banana plants can be considered a limiting factor, and thus, the use of growth regulators can constitute a valid alternative. This work aimed to evaluate the action of paclobutrazol on the growth of the pseudostem of banana plants and other characteristics of their development. An experiment was installed with five paclobutrazol doses (0; 0.5; 1.0; 1.5; and 2.0 g of a.i. plant-1) combined with two banana plant cultivars ('Prata Anã' and 'FHIA-01'). Paclobutrazol did not affect the number of days from planting to flowering, total leaf area and leaf emission rate. | ABSTRACT Conservation of vegetative organs, as leaves and stalks, is essential to achieve high maize production. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of leaf area maintenance due to fungicides spraying on stalk integrity, its chemical composition and grain yield. The experiment was conducted in Uberlândia - MG, during the second season of 2016. The experiment design was a randomized complete block with six replications and six treatments, representing combinations of fungicides belonging to carboxamide, strobilurin, triazole, and dithiocarbamate chemical groups, and the check treatment (without fungicides). | Se estableció en San Pedro Yodoyuxi, Huajuapan de León, Oaxaca, una parcela experimental para evaluar dos regímenes de riego (con y sin) y cuatro dosis de nitrógeno (0, 5, 10, y 15 g de N m-2) en el crecimiento de A. potatorum de 2, 3, 4 y 5 años durante un periodo de 12 meses y otro de siete. La combinación de factores estudiados generó 32 unidades experimentales del factorial completo 2 x 4 x 4. Se empleó diseño experimental bloques completos con tratamientos aleatorizados. En el primer periodo se tuvieron cuatro bloques, en el segundo seis.
