Foliar and topdressing application of nitrogen to the common bean crop PAB
Kotz-Gurgacz,Tailene Elisa; Soratto,Rogério Peres; Guidorizzi,Fernando Vieira Costa.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of applying N sources to leaves and N rates to the soil on the growth, N uptake, and grain and crude protein yields of the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) crop. Three experiments - two irrigated and one rainfed - were conducted during the 2012/2013 agricultural season, in a randomized complete block design with four replicates. The treatments consisted of the application of: four N rates (0, 45, 90, and 180 kg ha-1) to the soil, as topdressing in the V4 stage; and five N sources/rates - i.e., control, without foliar N application; 2.5 kg ha-1 N as conventional urea (N-CU); 5.0 kg ha-1 N-CU; 2.5 kg ha-1 N as slow-release urea-formaldehyde (N-SR); and 5.0 kg ha-1 N-SR - to leaves, in the R5...

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of magnesium foliar spray on yield performance of soybean (Glycine max) and corn (Zea mays) cultivated in soil with adequate levels of base saturation and magnesium content in Brazil. The field trials were conducted on a Typic Hapludox cultivated with soybean and corn in the 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 crop seasons, respectively. Treatments consisted of Mg rates (50, 100, 250, 500, 1,000 and 1,500 g ha-1 and a control without Mg) applied during the V4, R1, and R5.1 (soybean) or V4 and R2 (corn) phenological growth stages as magnesium sulfate heptahydrate (MgSO4∙7H2O). The SPAD index, leaf Mg content, grain yield, and 100-grain weight were evaluated. The Mg foliar spray increased the SPAD index in...

Genotypic variability in seed accumulation of foliar-applied molybdenum to common bean Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Vieira,Rogério Faria; Paula Júnior,Trazilbo José de; Carneiro,José Eustáquio de Souza; Queiroz,Marina Viana.
The genotypic variability in molybdenum (Mo) accumulation in common bean seeds has been demonstrated in cases in which soil is the main Mo source, but this variability is yet unknown when Mo is foliar-applied. Therefore, seed Mo concentrations (SMoCc) and seed Mo contents (SMoCt) of 12 genotypes were determined in four experiments in the Zona da Mata, Minas Gerais, Brazil, in which plants were sprayed with 600 g ha-1 Mo. For comparison, two additional experiments without external Mo were conducted. Without Mo application, the average SMoCc was undetectable or 2.83 µg g-1, without significant differences among genotypes. On average, with Mo applications, SMoCc ranged from 14.7 to 25.0 µg g-1 and SMoCt, from 3.94 to 6.84 µg. 'Majestoso' was among the...

Physicochemical characterization of fertilizers containing concentrated suspensions of CuO, MnCO3 and ZnO Scientia Agricola
Gomes,Marcos Henrique Feresin; Migliavacca,Rafaela Alenbrant; Otto,Rafael; Carvalho,Hudson Wallace Pereira de.
ABSTRACT: The utilization of insoluble sources of micronutrients as concentrated suspensions (CSs) is increasing in Brazilian agriculture; however, much information regarding the physicochemical characterization of these products is required to demonstrate the absorption behavior by plant leaves. This study aimed to characterize the CSs available on the Brazilian market to support their potential use as foliar fertilizers. We selected five CSs containing Mn, five CSs containing Zn and three CSs containing Cu from five different companies. In each product, the mean particle size was evaluated by dynamic light scattering (DLS), the particle shape and size were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the aggregation degree was determined by the zeta...

Effects of a growth promoter on bean ( Phaseolus vulgaris L.) crops in Sancti Spíritus province, Cuba Acta Agron. (Palmira)
Calzada,Kolima Peña; Fernández,Juan Carlos Rodríguez; Sotolongo,Martín Santana; Viciedo,Dilier Olivera; Expósito,Cesar Danilo Valle; Hernández,Richel Dorta.
Abstract In order to evaluate the effect of a growth promoter on the productivity performance and seed-quality in bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) crops, two experiments were carried out, one in the field and under controlled conditions. In the field experiments, a Latin square design was used for four treatments as follows: control, 0.5, 0.8 and 1.0 l.ha-1, respectively, where yield components were evaluated. The seeds used in the controlled conditions experiment were from prior trials, in a totally randomized design, at the dosages above mentioned. Seed germination and seedling growth were evaluated. In the field experiments, the product had a stimulating effect on the production. The highest yields were reached with the 0.8 and 1.0 l.ha-1 dosages in number...

Nutritional supplementation required by native Cerrado species development, in nursery Biological Sciences
Matias, Renan Augusto Miranda; Venturoli, Fábio; Martins, Rosana de Carvalho Cristo; Pieruzzi, Fernanda Piccolo; Abreu, Alexandre Leandro Santos de; Lima, Mirella Basileu de Oliveira.
The ecological restoration of Cerrado ecosystems involves challenges pertinent to the fertilization of the substrate for seedlings in nursery, which are often produced by a single type of substrate. However, habitat heterogeneity suggests that the species may have different nutritional requirements. The objective was to assess the effect of substrate fertilization and nutritional supplementation by leaf in developing seedlings of Kielmeyera coriacea Mart. & Zucc. Eugenia dysenterica (Mart.) and DC Handroanthus impetiginosus (Mart. ex DC.) Mattos. The experiment was implemented in a 3x3 factorial completely randomized design (three types of substrates x three levels of foliar fertilization), with ten replicates. The treatments were tested by analysis...

Response of wheat to foliar application of zinc Ciência Rural
Zoz,Tiago; Steiner,Fábio; Fey,Rubens; Castagnara,Deise Dalazen; Seidel,Edleusa Pereira.
Wheat is grown in Brazil, mostly in no-till, a system in which the zinc can become potentially deficient, due to excessive application of acidity corrective and phosphate fertilizers in surface and, or at shallow depths. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of foliar application of zinc in agronomic characteristics and yield of wheat. The experimental design was randomized blocks with five replications. Treatments consisted of four doses of zinc (0, 54, 108 and 216g ha-1 Zn), divided into two foliar applications, the first at tillering (18 days after plant emergence) and the second at the boot stage (65 days after emergence). Foliar application of zinc increased the number of fertile tillers and yield of wheat, however, have little effect on the...
