Timmermann, Martin.
In order to secure the quality of organic agriculture and its products, there is a demand for alternative research approaches that are presently the subject of lively discussions. One of these approaches is called “the phenomenology of nature”. From a methodo-logical point of view and compared with quantifying approaches, the aspects of a nature-phenomenological approach, its scientific value and the use of the concept goetheanism are discussed. The phenomenology of nature approach can be linked to the quantifying natural sciences and employed in connection with them.

The metabolomic fingerprint and microbiological quality of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) in different organic growing systems "TILMAN-ORG Session" Organic Eprints
Matt, Darja; Eremeev, Viacheslav; Tein, Berit; Roasto, Mati; Pehme, Sirli; Luik, Anne.
In organic agriculture, soil fertility is essential for harvesting high quality crop yields. Plant nutrient cycles should be kept short and as closed as possible. Therefore, it is important to have sustainable growing systems that have rotations with appropriate crops and cover crops. In organic farming green manures and cattle manure are also used to ensure fertile and biologically active soil and to enhance biodiversity. Green manures offer supporting services, such as nutrient cycling, promotion of beneficial insects for pest control and soil formation. Also the catch crops on winter period are essential to reduce nutrient leaching (Stark and Porter, 2005). Growing system does not only influence the soil fertility, but through that also the quality...

Organic farming in populated area: Bangladesh – an example of case study Organic Eprints
Hossain, Shaikh Tanveer.
Agriculture plays a very important role in populated countries like Bangladesh. Bangladesh ranks eighth in World population rank and fifth in Asia. The conventional agriculture of Bangladesh after green revolution heavily depended on chemical fertilizers and pesticides causing several problems to human health and the environment. As a result, food safety has now become a big issue. Moreover, the cost of agriculture has increased manifold with declining yield levels and growing dependence on market for purchase of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Hence the most urgent step is application of bio-products in order to ensure better and safe environment without any reduction in yield of crops. Food security is also challenging considering the climate...

Bioactive Compound Fingerprint Analysis of Aged Raw Pu’er Tea and Young Ripened Pu’er Tea Organic Eprints
Pedan, V.; Rohn, S.; Holinger, M.; Chetschik, I..
Abstract: Pu’er tea produced from Camellia sinensis var. assamica is a widely appreciated and consumed beverage that can be divided into two kinds of tea depending on the different fermentation processed used, the special sensory characteristics, and their chemical composition. However, authentication seems to be very important for such teas, as they are traded to comparatively high prices, especially in Europe. The results for selected biochemical markers showed that aged raw pu’er tea contained 210.2 mg GAE/g polyphenols, of which 2.2 mg/g were gallic acid, 16.1 mg/g theogallin, 35.1 mg/g (-)-epigallocatechin gallate, and 40.1 mg/g (-) epicatechin gallate, on average. Young ripened pu’er tea contained about 104.6 mg GAE/g polyphenols, of which 5.5 mg/g...
