En el proceso del proyecto Intensificación Agroecológica y Socioeconómica de la Pequeña Agricultura Andina (AGROECO) muchos jóvenes campesinos de Cusco y en Cajamarca, han tenido una participación activa en la innovación de la agricultura local, en una dinámica que ha permitido la integración del saber tradicional con los principios de la agroecología y la producción orgánica, lo que ha propiciado el rescate y uso de especies de la agrobiodiversidad nativa. Aquí presentamos los testimonios de dos jóvenes campesinos, gracias a la coordinación en campo realizada con los agricultores que participan en la experiencia de AGROECO. |

Analisaram-se programas e ações de fitoterapia na atenção primária à saúde brasileira (APS) a partir da literatura. O metaestudo incluiu seis bases de dados, de 1988 a 2012, sendo registradas 24 publicações. A inserção da fitoterapia acontece a partir de motivações diversas: aumentar os recursos terapêuticos, resgatar saberes populares, preservar a biodiversidade, educação ambiental e popular, agroecologia e desenvolvimento social. This study compared farm production, crop yield, input cost, and income in organic and conventional farming systems in three states of India: Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. The results showed that organic farming reduced the input cost without affecting the net margin in all three states. Total food production was found to be comparable for the two systems in two of three states. While yield of rice and wheat generally was lower under the organic systems, yield from intercropping food crops was generally higher. IFOAM reconoce el papel esencial de los campesinos, especialmente en la producción de alimentos y en las economías rurales sostenibles, pero es claro que muchos de ellos viven en condiciones de extrema pobreza, se encuentran en desventaja y no tienen acceso a recursos y apoyo. Esto debe cambiar. IFOAM reconoce que los campesinos tienen un papel fundamental en la conservación de la biodiversidad. Considera que son necesarios mayores esfuerzos para mejorar la productividad de la agricultura campesina y hace un llamado para una inversión mucho mayor en ciencia, tecnología, infraestructura, servicios e innovación que la promuevan. |

Objetivo: verificar a prevalência de obesidade entre adultos das 86 famílias agricultoras de um bairro de Petrópolis, RJ, e analisar seus determinantes socioculturais. Métodos: estudo quantitativo e qualitativo sobre nutrição, práticas alimentares e de trabalho realizado em 2008. Dados antropométricos foram coletados por inquérito nutricional domiciliar e o material qualitativo por observação participante e entrevistas. Resultados: a prevalência de obesidade foi baixa (9,3%) entre os homens, mas bastante elevada entre as mulheres (29,9%). A prática agrícola local implica em atividade física leve para mulheres e intensa para homens. In December 2005 a questionnaire survey was conducted at the university hospital in Trondheim, Norway. Patients and personnel expressed that food is important for their health and well-being. Good taste, appearance and right nutrition were mentioned to be important factors for food quality. About 80 % of the respondents were positive or really positive to use organic food at the hospital, even though only around half of them agreed that it is worth the price. Furthermore the absence of pesticides, artificial fertilizers and preservatives in food was ranked to be more important than organic production of food. All respondents seemed to be critical towards the use of pesticides and preservatives in food production and processing. |
