Nutrient solution and substrates for ‘cedro doce’ (Pochota fendleri) seedling production AGRIAMBI
Smiderle,Oscar J.; Souza,Aline G.; Pedrozo,Cassia A.; Lima,Christinny G. B..
ABSTRACT This study assessed the effect of different substrates and addition of nutrient solution on the production of Pochota fendleri seedlings, leaf contents of macro and micronutrients and chlorophyll a and b. The experimental design was completely randomized, in a 3 x 2 factorial scheme, with four replicates. The factors were three substrates, with or without addition of nutrient solution, composing six treatments: (T1) = sand; (T2) = soil; (T3) = sand + soil (1:1); (T4) = sand + nutrient solution; (T5) = soil + nutrient solution; (T6) = sand + soil + nutrient solution. Growth characteristics (height, collar diameter, shoot dry matter, root dry matter, root/shoot ratio and total dry matter) and contents of macro- and micronutrients and chlorophyll a...

Potential of the seedling community of a forest fragment for tropical forest restoration Scientia Agricola
Viani,Ricardo Augusto Gorne; Rodrigues,Ricardo Ribeiro.
Forest restoration projects are usually planted with a reduced number of species as compared to standing forests, largely due to the low availability of native species in seedling nurseries. In the present study, the potential of the native seedling community as a source of seedlings for forest restoration is analyzed. To do so, the seedling community from a forest fragment located in the southeast of Brazil was evaluated. Individuals (tree and shrub species) up to 30 cm height were measured and identified in 20 4 × 4 m plots. Altogether, 6,136 individuals (17 individuals m-2) belonging to 119 species were sampled. The seedling community showed a spatial heterogeneity with respect to the density of individuals and composition of species, and also a spatial...

Control of Botrytis cinerea in Eucalyptus globulus Mini-Cuttings Using Clonostachys and Trichoderma Strains Chilean J. Agric. Res.
Zaldúa,Salomé; Sanfuentes,Eugenio.
Botrytis cinerea Pers. ex Fr. causes the disease known as gray mold in more than 200 hosts. It is one of the most important pathogens in Chilean forest nurseries and Eucalyptus globulus Labill. is one of the most susceptible species, especially in vegetative reproduction systems. Clonostachys and Trichoderma strains were selected as potential biocontrol agents of gray mold in previous research by the authors. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of antagonistic fungi to control B. cinerea in E. globulus mini-cuttings. Five fungi strains were tested and applied weekly, two Clonostachys and three Trichoderma (5 x 10(6) conidia mL-1). In addition, comparison treatments were also used: absolute control (water) and fungicide...
