El complejo de la mancha de asfalto del maíz, inducido por los hongos Phyllachora maydis y Monographella maydis, es una enfermedad de importancia económica en México y Centroamérica, debido a que provoca severas pérdidas en el rendimiento y deteriora la calidad del forraje. El mejoramiento genético de la resistencia del hospedante a través de la generación de genotipos resistentes representa la medida de control más eficiente para el control de la enfermedad. Se conoce poco respecto a la base genética de la resistencia al CMA, por lo cual se determinó la Aptitud Combinatoria General (ACG) y Aptitud Combinatoria Especifica (ACE) de 18 líneas endogámicas S7 mediante el Modelo I de frecuencias fijas de Griffing, bajo el Método II que incluyó las 18 líneas más...

A diallel analysis of wheat (Triticum aestivum L. em. Thell) parents (n = 11) and their F1 (n = 55) and F2 (n = 55) offspring was carried out for the following four traits: grain filling duration (GFD), GFD for growing degree days (GDD), 1000 seed weight and seed yield per plant. Analysis of variance for general combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) displayed significant F1 and F2 general and specific combining ability effects for the four traits studied. For all the traits the GCA effects were relatively more important than the SCA effects, indicating that additive genetic effects were predominant. Germplasm is an important factor to contribute to plant breeding successes. Thein corn varieties in Thailand are specific in each location. The seed collected from small size population, that a cause of narrow genetic base. The objective of this research was to find the potential of sweet corn varieties to improve agronomic traits of thein corn having adaptability on diverse environments. Forty-eight of F1 were obtained by varietal crosses between 12 sweet corn and 4 thein corn varieties as Line x Tester analysis. The F1 varietal crosses were selfed to produce F2 varietal cross populations about 30 ears/cross. Characteristic of F2 seeds in each ear segregated to normal and wrinkle. Combining Ability Analysis for Achene Yield and Related Traits in Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) Chilean J. Agric. Res.

Ten sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) lines, five testers, and 50 crosses developed in line x tester fashion were evaluated for general combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) effects in a triplicate randomized complete block design, in Faisalabad, during 2009-2010. Genetic variability among genotypes was assessed for days to flowering, days to maturity, plant height, internodal length, leaf area, number of leaves per plant, head diameter, stem girth, percentage of filled achenes, 100 achene weight, achene yield per plant.
