Indirekte Selektionmethoden auf Methioninreichtum des Samenproteins bei heimischen Leguminosen Organic Eprints
Schumacher, H.; Paulsen, Hans Marten; Gau , A. E.; Link, W.; Jürgens, H.-U.; Sass, O.; Dieterich, R:.
While grain legumes can be regarded as highly valuable protein sources for animal nutrition, ceratin drawbacks inhibit their use as sole foodstuff for livestock. The nutrient quality is reduced by low concentrations of tryptophan and sulfur amino acids.

Impact of methionine nutrition on the leaf proteome of Lupinus angustifolius L. and Vicia faba L. Organic Eprints
Schumacher, Henrik; Gau, Achim Ernst; Klodmann, Jennifer; Paulsen, Hans Marten.
Grain legumes possess a gernerally favourable seed protein amino acid composition but low contents of sulfur amino acids decrease their nutrient value. To enhance the methionie content of local grain legumes by plant breeding, phenotypical attributes for high methionine contents are required for the selection process.

Phenotypic indicators to identify methionine rich European grain legumes and the correlation of grain methionine contents with the sulphur supply Organic Eprints
Paulsen, H. M.; Schumacher, H.; Gau, A. E.; Sass, O.; Jürgens, H.-U.; Dieterich, R..
Home grown legumes are a valuable protein source for pure on-farm diets for livestock in organic farming. Whereas protein of Glycine max naturally has higher contents of methionine nand also lysine typical European grain legumes (Pisum sativum L., Vicia faba L., Lupinus angustifolius L.) used in organic farms as component of animal food are relatively low in those amino acids.
