The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of 15 maize cultivars in seven locations in Paraná State, Brazil. Towards this aim, grain yield trials were conducted during two crop seasons, and centroid (multivariate) and bissegmented regression (univariate) methods were used to evaluate possible divergences among results obtained. The genotypes were evaluated in randomized complete blocks with three replications. The centroid method was effective for indicating productive potential of genotypes, allowing for classification of genotype adaptability and stability. Values of probability above 0.40 allowed more reliable genotype classification for both adaptability and stability. The STRIKE genotype presented wide adaptability and stability by... |

ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to determine the necessary number of experiments to analyze the adaptability and stability of maize cultivars (Zea mays L.) using the Lin and Binns method. Grain yield data extracted from 63 maize cultivar trials were used. Trials were divided in six groups of experiments, according to the cycle (early and super early) and the agricultural year (2002/2003, 2003/2004, and 2004/2005). In each group, from the set of all experiments (reference file) new data files were formed by combinations in groups of 2, 3, 4, ..., n-1 experiments, with a total of 10,683 files. For each file, the estimation of the adaptability and stability parameter (Pi) of the Lin and Binns method was calculated. To verify the degree of... |

ABSTRACT The arracacha is a great economical alternative for Brazilian farmers. The aim of this research was to determine the stability and adaptability of arracacha clones by the methodology of factors analysis and bissegmented regression. Five clones, three cultivars (Amarela de Senador Amaral, BRS Rubia 41 and BRS Catarina 64), and two advanced clones (EH-48 and EH-56) were evaluated in 10 locations in the southern of the Minas Gerais State, Brazil, in the agricultural years 2012/13, 2013/14 and 2015/16. The experimental plots consisted of three random samples within the arracacha observation units. Each sample consisted of five plants collected in sequence, highlighting and weighing commercial roots and transforming the portion of the production data... |

The objective of this work was to estimate genetic parameters and to evaluate simultaneous selection for root yield and for adaptability and stability of cassava genotypes. The effects of genotypes were assumed as fixed and random, and the mixed model methodology (REML/Blup) was used to estimate genetic parameters and the harmonic mean of the relative performance of genotypic values (HMRPGV), for simultaneous selection purposes. Ten genotypes were analyzed in a complete randomized block design, with four replicates. The experiment was carried out in the municipalities of Altamira, Santarém, and Santa Luzia do Pará in the state of Pará, Brazil, in the growing seasons of 2009/2010, 2010/2011, and 2011/2012. Roots were harvested 12 months after planting, in... |

Abstract: The objective of this work was to select cowpea genotypes simultaneously for high yield of immature grains, adaptability, and genotypic stability, taking into account genotype x environment interactions. The mixed models restricted maximum likelihood (REML)/best linear unbiased prediction (BLUP) were used. Sixteen cowpea genotypes were evaluated in nine environments, consisting of a combination of location (Pentecoste in the state of Ceará, Acaraú in Ceará, Teresina in Piauí, and Mossoró in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil) and year (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017). In all trials, a randomized complete block design with four replicates was used. Significant differences were observed for effects of genotypes and the genotype x environment... |

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the similarity network graphic methodology for the classification of flood-irrigated rice (Orzya sativa) genotypes regarding their adaptability and stability. Two statistical measures were used to represent the proximity of the behavior (based on Pearson’s correlation) or values (based on Gower’s distance) between pairs of genotypes or between genotype and environment. Productivity data of 18 genotypes were evaluated in three locations in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, in the harvests of 2012/2013, 2013/2014, 2014/2015, and 2015/2016, in a randomized complete block design. The genotypes were previously assessed for adaptability and stability by the Eberhart & Russell and centroid methods. The... |

Abstract: The objective of this work was to determine the efficiency of a simultaneous selection for yield, stability, and adaptability of bean genotypes of the carioca and black groups. In the 2016 harvest, two experiments were carried out in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil: one for the carioca group, with 20 genotypes, in the municipalities of Caruaru, Arcoverde, and Belém de São Francisco; and the other for the black group, with 12 genotypes, in the municipalities of Caruaru and Arcoverde. The parameters were estimated by mixed models, and selection was performed by the harmonic mean of the relative performance of genetic values, using three strategies: selection based on the predicted genetic value, without interaction; selection based on the predicted... |

The objective of this work was to estimate the stability and adaptability of pod and seed yield in runner peanut genotypes based on the nonlinear regression and AMMI analysis. Yield data from 11 trials, distributed in six environments and three harvests, carried out in the Northeast region of Brazil during the rainy season were used. Significant effects of genotypes (G), environments (E), and GE interactions were detected in the analysis, indicating different behaviors among genotypes in favorable and unfavorable environmental conditions. The genotypes BRS Pérola Branca and LViPE‑06 are more stable and adapted to the semiarid environment, whereas LGoPE‑06 is a promising material for pod production, despite being highly dependent on favorable environments. |

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the association between estimates of adaptability, stability, and productivity in soybean (Glycine max), and to estimate the repeatability coefficient of these associations between years. A total of 22 genotypes were evaluated in 27 environments in the 2012/2013 crop season and in 19 environments in 2013/2014. In the next crop seasons, 28 genotypes were evaluated in 26 environments, in 2014/2015, and in 25 environments in 2015/2016, totalizing 97 trials. Fourteen methods were evaluated; Spearman correlation coefficients were obtained for the parameters of stability, adaptability, and productivity; and the repeatability coefficients, as well as the minimum number of required environments for a coefficient... |

Abstract: The objective of this work was to estimate the effects of genotype x environment interaction and the genetic potential of flood-irrigated rice cultivars, released between 1972 and 2017, for the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The experiments were carried out in the field, in all agroclimatic regions of flood-irrigated rice crop in the state, between the 2005/2006 and 2015/2016 crop years, totaling 60 environments (trials), with 1,961 experimental units. Twenty-five cultivars of irrigated rice were evaluated for the traits grain yield, plant height, days to flowering, and whole grain quality after milling. The values of adaptability and stability were estimated with the aid of mixed models. The rice cultivars BRS Pampa, BRS Pampeira, and... |
