Évolution récente et sédimentation des plates-formes continentales de la Corse ArchiMer
Pluquet, Fabrice.
This work aimed at displaying and studying morphological and sedimentological features of Corsican seafloor from the coast to depths of -100m. It also aimed at a better knowledge of sediment dynamics under hydrodynamic conditions, and at a reconstitution of the late Quaternary shorelines evolution. Careful analysis of the bathymetry has revealed a very contrasted morphology between the different areas of Corsican shelves, as it has been displayed on an synthetic geomorphological map. In addition, an homogeneous and overall map of surficial sediments of the Corsican shelves seabed was established and two areas, the Balagne and Agriates' platforms to the North of Corsica, and the Bonifacio Straits to the South, were mapped into details. The various...

The Gulf of Lions: An overview of recent studies within the French 'Margins' Programme ArchiMer
Berne, Serge; Gorini, C.
Within the French 'Margins' Programme (Groupement de Recherches 'Marges', or 'GDR Marges'), The Gulf of Lions was selected as a key area where scientists specialized in complementary aspects of geosciences (structural geology, tectonics, stratigraphy, sedimentology, various aspects of modeling) work together in order to better understand the processes that control the formation and evolution of continental margins. A key objective was to link offshore data (that mainly consist of seismic data and few wells) and onshore studies (mainly based on well and field data). This special edition of Marine and Petroleum Geology on the Gulf of Lions presents some of the main results obtained during three years of research by the group 'GDR Marges-Golfe du Lion'.

Content Based Geographic Image Retrieval using Local Vector Pattern BABT
Jenitta,A.; Ravindran,R. Samson.
ABSTRACT Large image archives formed by satellite remote sensing missions are getting an increasing valuable source of information in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The need for retrieving a required image from a huge image database is increasing significantly for the purpose of analyzing resources in GIS. Content Based Geographic Image Retrieval (CBGIR) in the image processing field is the best solution to meet the requirement. In this work, we used Local Vector Pattern (LVP) to extract fine features present in the geographical image and retrieve the applicable images from a large remote sensing image database. The primary idea of our method is generating micro patterns of LVP by the vectors of each pixel that are constructed by calculating the...
