WHAT DETERMINES THE USE OF BRANDS AND SEALS OF APPROVAL AS EXTRINSIC QUALITY CUES IN CONSUMERS’ PORK PURCHASE DECISION? AgEcon
Grebitus, Carola; Menapace, Luisa; Bruhn, Maike.
In today’s saturated food markets with increasingly homogeneous products food quality provides an opportunity for product differentiation. We want to answer the question what determines the use of extrinsic quality cues (brands, seals of approval) in consumers’ pork purchase decision. Therefore, we accomplished a consumer survey (n=767) at different German retailers. The results show that consumers’ pork purchase at small supermarkets, use of household leaflets to make purchase decisions and modest income level determines the use of seals of approval. Consumers who buy pork at small supermarkets and discounters, and who use household leaflets use brands.

Many local regions have attempted to improve their economic situation by encouraging the growth of manufacturing activities. The basic objective of this study to determine and analyze the patterns of food manufacturing and the spatial changes between 2007 and 2001 in the 439 regions in Germany.

Managing supply chains successfully: an empirical testing of success of supply chain networks in the German fish sector AgEcon
Gagalyuk, Taras; Hanf, Jon Henrich; Steinbauer, Christina.
Increasing consumer requirements for quality, safety and environmental sustainability of seafood products are recognized as the driving forces of vertical cooperation in the fish sector. Cooperation among the participants of the fish chain becomes apparent in formation of so-called supply chain networks that embody multilateral coordination and address more than just the goals of individual organizations. This requires that supply chain networks are successfully managed. Yet, it is not clear up to now what the success of supply chain networks is and how it can be measured. Therefore, this study aims to develop and test the model of the supply chain network success. We test the model empirically using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling based...
