A pesca artesanal no rio Araguaia exerce uma função fundamental para a manutenção da segurança alimentar, do comercio local e da herança cultural de milhares de famílias ribeirinhas ao longo de sua calha. As tecnologias empregadas consideram principalmente as características do ambiente, as adaptações culturais em cada local e a disponibilidade de recursos financeiros para obtê-las. Por isso, este trabalho teve como objetivo caracterizar os principais petrechos utilizados pela pesca no rio Araguaia, Tocantins. A survey of multigear fishery of Nile perch (Lates niloticus) in the Winam Gulf of Lake Victoria indicates that total mortality coefficient (Z) determined from longline fishery using hook number 6 was double that of hook number 7. Total mortality coefficient determined from gillnets and beachseines were lower than those of hooks. The catch per unit effort (C/f) measured using different criteria indicated an increase for all gears in 1990 as compared to 1989 except for gillnets. A two-fold increase in unit effort (f) increased the C/f for mosquito seines by only 30%. The typical exponential decay of C/f with increasing f of exploited stock in equilibrium was lacking in the case of Nile perch in the Winam Gulf. There is a lack of scientific information about the artisanal fishery in the de la Costa County (Buenos Aires province, Argentina). Moreover, this artisanal sector does not have fishing statistics because local fishermen are not obliged to hand in fishing reports, where even basic data on catch and fleet effort should be included. The main objective was the analysis of the artisanal fishery in the de la Costa County from the biological, economic and social point of view. This paper deals with the design and application of different fishing gears tested in the Beagle Channel (Tierra del Fuego, Argentina) with the supervision of the technical personnel of INIDEP Fishing Gear Group, the support of the General Directorate of Natural Resources (known today as SRNyAH) of Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur Province and the participation of local fishermen. Incidental catches (bycatch) in gillnet fisheries off Zanzibar (Unguja Island), as a source of mortality among several species of dolphins, were reported in a questionnaire survey conducted in 1999. As a follow-up to that survey, from January 2000 to August 2003, we monitored the incidental catches of dolphins collected from 12 fish landing sites. Six species of dolphins were recorded from 143 specimens retrieved from bycatches in drift- and bottom set gillnets. OceanDocs Ben Naceur, L.; Bdioui, M.; M'rabet, R.. ن ارتفاع تكلفة صيانة الشباك الدائرة و العينية جراء هجمات الدلافين،يؤثر كثيرا علي مرد ودية وحدات الصيد. و للحد من هذه الهجمات، ابتكر المعهد الوطني لعلوم وتكنلوجيا البحار آلة ميكانيكية سميت "انبوب الدلفين"، تبعث عند طرقها، ذبذبات صوتية قادرة علي إجبار الدلافين علي مغادرة مكان تواجد شباك الصيد . بعد مدة استعمال ناجحة نسبيا طفت المشكلة علي الساحة من جديد وبأكثر حدة. لهذا الغرض أنجز برنامج عمل، مكن من تقييم التفاعل بين الدلافين والشباك الدائرة لصيد الأسماك الصغيرة العائمة بجهة المهدية ومن إدخال بعض التحسينات علي "أنبوب الدلفين" الذي أثبتت التجارب الميدانية بأنه أصبح قادرا علي تشويش جهاز الرصد عند الدلافين مع بعث حدة صوتية لا يتحملها الجهاز الحسي السمعي لهذا الحيوان.
