The Impact of CO2 Emission Cuts on Income AgEcon
Zhao, Xiaobing.
We study how carbon dioxide (CO2) emission cuts affect income for 23 OECD countries over the 1980-2004 period. The importance of this question is manifested in the disagreements at the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen and the 2010 State of the Union Address by United States President Barack Obama. We start by deriving an income-CO2 relationship based on a structural production function, which is a natural way to model the relationship among income, energy consumption, and CO2 emissions. We then use a similar empirical methodology as Tucker (1995) to estimate the income-CO2 relationship. Such an approach not only allows us to focus on the long-run relationship but also enables us to project the relationship between income and CO2...

ECONOMIC VALUE OF THE CARBON SINK SERVICES OF TROPICAL SECONDARY FORESTS AND ITS MANAGEMENT IMPLICATIONS AgEcon
Ramirez, Octavio A.; Carpio, Carlos E.; Ortiz, Rosalba; Finnegan, Brian.
This paper explores the economic feasibility secondary forest regeneration and conservation as an alternative to help address global warming. Detailed measurements of tropical secondary forests through time, in different ecological zones of Costa Rica, are used for estimating carbon storage models. The paper addresses key issues in the international discussion about cross- and within-country compensation for carbon storage services and illustrates a method to compute/predict their economic value through time under a variety of scenarios. The procedure is applicable to other developing countries where secondary forest growth is increasingly important.

OS IMPACTOS DA DEMANDA POR CRÉDITO DE CARBONO SOBRE O MERCADO DE CERTIFICAÇÕES DE REDUÇÕES DE EMISSÕES NO BRASIL AgEcon
Alvim, Augusto Mussi; Santin, Maria Fernanda Cavalieri De Lima.

Three Key Elements of Post-2012 International Climate Policy Architecture AgEcon
Olmstead, Sheila M.; Stavins, Robert N..
We describe three essential elements of an effective post-2012 international global climate policy architecture: a means to ensure that key industrialized and developing nations are involved in differentiated but meaningful ways; an emphasis on an extended time path of targets; and inclusion of flexible market-based policy instruments to keep costs down and facilitate international equity. This architecture is consistent with fundamental aspects of the science, economics, and politics of global climate change; addresses specific shortcomings of the Kyoto Protocol; and builds upon the foundation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

ผลของการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศต่อการเจริญเติบโตและผลผลิตของข้าว Thai Agricultural
Piyapan Srikoom; Nittaya Reunsuk.
The effect of climate change on rice growth and yield had been studied during December, 2010 through March, 2012 at Chiang Rai Rice Research Center, Chiang Rai Province. Experimental design was split plot with three replications. Main plots were planting dates which designed to plant at monthly interval. Sub plots were rice varieties, consisting of Suphan Buri 1 (SPR1), and Suphan Buri 2 (SPR2). Planting method was pre-germinated seed broadcasting with seed rate of 15 kg/rai. The research found that planting in July was appropriate for both SPR1 and SPR2 variety in term of growth, growth duration and yield. Averaged plant heights were 136.4 and 122.3 cm with of SPR1 and SPR2 variety, respectively. The average yields were 827, and 678 kg/rai for SPR1 and...
