Distribution et écologie des Méduses (Cnidaria) du golfe de Tunis (Méditerranée sud occidentale) ArchiMer

The Medusae of Tunis Gulf (25 species) are qualitatively the third zooplanktonic group after Tintinnids and Copepods. Anthomedusae (eight species), Trachymedusae (five species) and Leptomedusae (four species) represent the major part among the 20 species of Hydromedusae identified during our study (December 1993-November 1995). However, the Limnomedusae (two species) and the Narcomedusae (one species) are poorly represented. In the Bay of Tunis, Obelia spp., the most common and dominant species, command the quantitative fluctuations of Hydromedusae and reach exceptionally the density of 25 800 ind. m(-3). Distribution spatiale de l'ichtyoplancton en été et en automne et conditions environnementales dans le golfe de Tunis OceanDocs

Pendant l’été et l’automne de l’année 2002, deux campagnes d’étude de l’ichtyoplancton ont été effectuées dans le golfe de Tunis. La température moyenne des eaux de surface a été de 25,51°c en été et 21,85°c en automne. Les œufs et les larves ont été plus abondants en été qu’en automne (360 œufs /10m² et 244 larves /10m² en été et 115 œufs /10m² et 174 larves /10m² en automne). Les paramètres environnementaux : température, salinité oxygène dissous, pH, chlorophylle a et abondance du mésozooplancton ne semblent pas avoir une influence directe sur la distribution spatiale de l’ichtyoplancton. Cependant, la bathymétrie semble avoir une influence sur cette distribution.

The results of the grain-size and mineralogical analysis of the superficial sediments of the coastal zone situated between Sidi Bou Saïd and “la Goulette” show that the small funds (-2 to -10 m) are decorated by fine sands (the median Q50 is between 116,6µm and 213,5µm). Nevertheless, the beach top situated between Sidi Bou Saïd and the North pass of the Punic harbours of Salammbô is covered essentially by average sands (the median Q50 is between 170,6 µm and 408,9µm). Between the Punic ports and the fishing port of “la Goulette” , the beach top is formed by fine sands.
