A pérola-da-terra Eurhizococcus brasiliensis (Hempel in Wile) (Hemiptera: Margarodidae) é uma das principais pragas da videira na Região Sul do Brasil. Neste trabalho, foi avaliada a resistência de cultivares de Vitis rotundifolia (Bountiful, Chief, Creek, Dixie, Magnolia, Magoon, Noble, Regale, Roanoke, Sumith e Topsail) à pérola-da-terra, comparando-as com o porta-enxerto 101-14 (Vitis riparia x Vitis rupestris). O experimento foi instalado em área naturalmente infestada pela praga, avaliando-se a resistência dos genótipos mediante a contagem do número de insetos presentes nas raízes, peso seco das plantas (parte aérea + raízes) e mortalidade após três anos. Abstract The potential astringency of eight grape cultivars was evaluated based on polyphenol/protein binding. The parameters such as weights, sizes, total phenols, flavanols and tannins of different grape tissues were determined, and the polyphenol/protein binding was analyzed by SDS-PAGE and spectroscopy. The Cabernet Sauvignon had the highest skin proportion, while the Blue French had the highest seed proportion. The Blue French seeds had the highest total phenolic content, while the Cabernet Sauvignon skins had the highest total phenolic content. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the performance of cultivars, to quantify the variability and to estimate the genetic distances of 66 wine grape accessions in the Grape Germplasm Bank of the EMBRAPA Semi-Arid, in Juazeiro, BA, Brazil, through the characterization of discrete and continuous phenotypic variables. Multivariate statistics, such as, principal components, Tocher's optimization procedure, and the graphic of the distance, were efficient in grouping more similar genotypes, according to their phenotypic characteristics.
