PENETRATION, DEVELOPMENT, AND REPRODUCTION OF Meloidogyne enterolobii ON Psidium SPECIES AND INDUCED CELLULAR RESPONSES IN THE ROOTS Rev. Bras. Frutic.
SOUSA,ALAIN DENIS DE; PEDROSA,ELVIRA MARIA RÉGIS; SILVA,CLÁUDIA ULISSES DE CARVALHO; CASTRO,JOSÉ MAURO DA CUNHA E; RIBEIRO,JULIANA MARTINS.
ABSTRACT Meloidogyne enterolobii has severely compromised the main guava producing regions in Brazil, thereby stimulating the development of resistant varieties for efficient management of this nematode. This study aimed to assess the penetration, development, reproduction, and induced cellular responses of M. enterolobii in roots of four species of the genus Psidium (P. guajava‘Paluma’, P. guineense, P. cattleyanum, and P. friedrichstalianum) from the Active Germplasm Bank (BAG) of the Center for Agricultural Research of the Semi-arid Tropics (Embrapa Semi-arid) located in Petrolina, PE, Brazil. Three experiments were carried out to assess the penetration, development, and reproduction of the nematode and, subsequently, histological analyses were...

Grafting guava on cattley guava resistant to Meloidogyne enterolobii Ciência Rural
Robaina,Renata Rodrigues; Campos,Graziella Siqueira; Marinho,Cláudia Sales; Souza,Ricardo Moreira; Bremenkamp,Cíntia Aparecida.
The use of resistant rootstocks could be a promising method to control nematodeMeloidogyne enterolobiiin commercial plantations of guava. The present study aimed to evaluate the success of grafting guava as a scion on accessions of cattley guava as rootstocks resistant to M. enterolobii. The treatments consisted of the rootstocks cattley guava plants (three accessions of Psidium cattleyanum) and common guava (control). In the apical wedge grafting method, scion of Paluma cultivated variety was used. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design with four treatments and five replicates, and eight plants per plot. The saplings produced as described before were planted in the field where the initial growth of the different combinations were...
