Topological analysis of carbon flux during multi-stress adaptation in Halomonas sp. AAD12 Electron. J. Biotechnol.
Mangaoglu Yoruk,Hilal; Alpagu Sayar,Nihat.
Background Osmolytes with their effective stabilizing properties are accumulated as protectants not only against salinity but also against denaturing harsh environmental stresses such as freezing, drying, high temperatures, oxygen radicals and radiation. The present work seeks to understand how Halomonas sp. AAD12 cells redirect carbon flux specifically to replenish reactions for biomass and osmolyte synthesis under changing salinity and temperature. To accomplish this goal, a combined FBA-PCA approach has been utilized. Results Experimental data were collected to supply model constraints for FBA and for the verification of the model predictions, which were satisfactory. With restrictions on the various combinations of selected anaplerotic paths (reactions...

Draft-genome sequence data and phylogenomic comparison of two marine-sourced bacterial strains Pseudoalteromonas sp. MIP2626 and Psychrobacter sp. BI730 ArchiMer
Kothe, Caroline; Delbarre-ladrat, Christine; Renault, Pierre; Passerini, Delphine.
Halophilic and psychrophilic marine bacteria are source of interesting bioactive molecules for biotechnology. We report here the whole-genome sequences of two of them, Pseudoalteromonas sp. MIP2626 isolated from tropical peeled shrimps and Psychrobacter sp. BI730 isolated from deep-sea hydrothermal vent. Sequencing of both genomes was performed by Illumina HiSeq platform (2 × 150 pb). De novo assemblies using Spades v3.9 generated 136 contigs for Pseudoalteromonas MIP2626 and 42 contigs for Psychrobacter BI730, representing a genome size of 3.9 Mb and 3.2 Mb, respectively. Phylogenetic based on 16S rRNA gene sequence and phylogenomic analyses were reported to compare the new sequences with Pseudoalteromonas and Psychrobacter representative strains...

Halotolerant bacteria in the São Paulo Zoo composting process and their hydrolases and bioproducts BJM
Oliveira,Lilian C.G.; Ramos,Patricia Locosque; Marem,Alyne; Kondo,Marcia Y.; Rocha,Rafael C.S.; Bertolini,Thiago; Silveira,Marghuel A.V.; Cruz,João Batista da; Vasconcellos,Suzan Pantaroto de; Juliano,Luiz; Okamoto,Debora N..
Halophilic microorganisms are able to grow in the presence of salt and are also excellent source of enzymes and biotechnological products, such as exopolysaccharides (EPSs) and polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs). Salt-tolerant bacteria were screened in the Organic Composting Production Unit (OCPU) of São Paulo Zoological Park Foundation, which processes 4 ton/day of organic residues including plant matter from the Atlantic Rain Forest, animal manure and carcasses and mud from water treatment. Among the screened microorganisms, eight halotolerant bacteria grew at NaCl concentrations up to 4 M. These cultures were classified based on phylogenetic characteristics and comparative partial 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis as belonging to the genera Staphylococcus,...
