This analysis was supported by Rivers Unlimited and chambers of commerce in communities along the Muskingum River corridor in southeastern Ohio. Hedonic pricing and travel cost/benefit transfer methods are applied to value and compare various water quality, infrastructure and land use control options for increasing corridor economic value.

As food is an experience good, the market for restaurant meals is a market where the cost of acquiring information regarding quality is relatively high. In such markets consumers often turn to reputation measures to guide purchase decisions. As Australia does not have a longstanding cuisine style of its own, and given Australia has been open to substantial immigration inflows since federation, it represents an especially appropriate market to study regarding the impact of individual restaurant reputation and collective cuisine reputation on meal prices. Combining Consumer Valuation Research with Sensory Science Techniques: A Laboratory Experiment AgEcon

In this research, we integrated an experimental auction with sensory science techniques—namely, trained sensory panels used to analyze the sensory attributes of wines—to examine the effects of objective and sensory information in the market for California-produced Cabernet Sauvignons. The experiment permitted observation of consumer valuation for sensory attributes of wine, appellations, expert ratings, and wineries. Participants submitted bids each time they received new information about the wines. The balanced experimental design permits evaluation of the effects of consumer characteristics on attribute valuation.
