Effect of tranquilization and anesthesia on high-resolution electrocardiographic indices of dogs in the chronic chagasic myocardiopathy Arq. Bras. Med. Vet. Zootec.
Ferreira,W.L.; Paula,D.P.; Nunes,N.; Camacho,A.A..
The effect of tranquilization and anesthesia on high-resolution electrocardiography (HRECG) indices of dogs in the undetermined chronic phase of Chagas' disease was studied. Eight adult female mongrel dogs were submitted to six protocols: group 1: animals not submitted to tranquilization or anesthesia; group 2: tranquilization with acepromazine; group 3: tranquilization with a combination of acepromazine and buprenorphine; group 4: general inhalatory anesthesia with isoflurane; group 5: general inhalatory anesthesia with sevoflurane; group 6: anesthesia with propofol. The animals were submitted to all protocols at an interval of 15 days between assessments. HRECG was performed in the time domain. Regarding the electrocardiographic parameters analyzed, no...

Time-domain signal-averaged electrocardiogram in healthy German Shepherd and Boxer dogs Arq. Bras. Med. Vet. Zootec.
Chamas,P.P.C.; Oliveira,V.M.C.; Yamaki,F.L.; Larsson,M.H.M.A..
Signal-averaged electrocardiogram (SAECG) identifies ventricular late potentials (LP), low-amplitude electrical signals that are markers of slow cardiac conduction in fibrous myocardium, consisting in a predictive factor for sudden death in dogs at risk of sustained ventricular tachycardia. The aim of this study was to establish reference values of SAECG for German Shepherd and Boxer dogs. SAECG was performed in 19 German Shepherd and 28 Boxer client-owned dogs, and parameters analyzed were QRSd (duration of filtered QRS), LAS<40μV (duration of low-amplitude signals in terminal portion of filtered QRS) and RMS40 (root square of mean voltage over the last 40 milliseconds of filtered QRS), with two different filters (25-250 Hz and 40-250 Hz). Statistical...

High-resolution electrocardiography in dogs under doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy Arq. Bras. Med. Vet. Zootec.
Ferreira,W.L.; Sousa,R.C.A.; Camacho,A.A..
The occurrence of late potentials in dogs under doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy and their relationship with the development of ventricular arrhythmias or sudden death were studied. Seven adult mongrel dogs of both sexes were used. Cardiomyopathy was induced by slow intravenous infusion of doxorubicin (30mg/m²) at 21-day intervals, until a total cumulative dose of 240mg/m² was reached. Animals were monitored by echocardiography. After the induction of cardiomyopathy, high-resolution electrocardiography was recorded. Late potentials were observed in two animals that suddenly died a few days later.
